hey, nice work man :), just wondering how'd set up the lighting...was it one of the default options or did u use any plug-ins cuz it looks reali good? thnx in advance!! :D
I used the particle fade setting to make the smoke fade away, but all it did was to decrease particle size until they are gone, instead of keeping them growing while reducing they´re opacity. Particle age would do that?
Never used mental ray, I still kind of fear the switch to it would be very time consuming...
Beautifully panned and rotated, self-contained cosy atmosphere pinpointed by the little wooden hut. lovely grass texture, sky, mountains, made me feel like i was there. Loved the man walking with the cane outside the hut, this suggested a storeline and i also found it had atmosphere as he paced around and the camera scrolled around it. lovely scene and lovely arrangement of timings. great job. :)
I really appreciate your oppinion on how the scene appeals to you not only from a technical point of view.
Most what I see when I watch it is all the technical flaws that could be refined know a year later after having done it ;) Actually, I might consider redoing it one day, as my 3dsmax skills should have improved slightly, and my computing power, too :)
Well I have to admit i'm going to copy you you're are that good. That's the most honest compliment i can give, i'll be struggling into the wee hours trying to make work look like yours. Well done man :)
Before you get thinking i'm about to embark on a serious prefession let me qualify that a little bit; i can't afford 3d Studio Max so i only use a little Blender at the moment. The best i did on a cracked Max 4.2 once was a lego-style castle tower and bridge, no animation. I'll try to prepare something though :)

Particle Age will enable the falloff of your smoke.. Ambience pass would give it more depth.. Have you dabbled in mental ray yet? Cute scene BTW.
