@denzelmondal9 and others, the linksys router series are one of the most stable and good modem if not the best, the drop in speed and hang up normally occur due to heat up of modem , that is comman in linksys sice these r high speed modem. Keep it cool and don't dump it in your basement or non ventiled area,Mathis will be wrong..

i swear i use to have the same modem that and same router and they are connected together but now i changed my modem but i still got the router and its not the best router cuz thats the cheapest one in staples and plus that router is crap i just lose connection from it from my ps3 and then i have to unplug the adaptor then after 15 mins i plus it back in but then i can only get wireless internet for an amount of time and then i have to do the same thing so plz plz someone pm me for a solution!!

Darn, darn, darn although my connection status on the ps3 in the wireless is 100%, my ping on the computer is high as hell!! and l have 10 mb/s download and average upload, l think l'll change provider..

that linksys wireless is junk we had 2 different boxes and i couldnt even pick up the net on my ipod 30 feet away in hour house so we ended up buying the older style box from linksys and i can walk across the str8 and pick up the net......

But if u have a weak ass isp then even if u buy a 1000 dollar router it wouldnt make a difference.

Hey guys, If someone could answer me this question I would greatly appreciate it. What it is is that my ps3's internet (download and upload) speeds keep on dropping. I have a wired connection and my internet speed is 54.0Mbps. I havnt really had many problems with this sort of thing before. So basically I just want somebody on here to tell me what is sort of like the average (Upload) and (Download) speeds you'd think wud be substantial. Its just so I have a rough idea on what to expect. Called Verizon today as I'm slow in our races in our league for NASCAR 09 and I'm thinking it's lag or my router settings. I use the same setups as my teammates and hit my times during practice and qualifying but when we start a race...I'm always all of a sudden 6 tenths or more slower than everyone else and I get lapped every week. My assists are off excpet for Steering Help and Anti Lock Brakes. Found out through the PS3...My Doanload is 7.2 MBPS and my Upload is 2 MBPS.

They did a test and online on my PC I was at 19 MBPS for Download and 8 MBPS for Upload. The Tech Guy added some ports and changed some settings and nothing improved. He said he didn't know what else to do and that maybe I should contact Sony. Anyone have any ideas? I'm using the Router that came with my installation and I have a Wired Connection. When we race, I have the PC off and the Router is the only thing left on. Weird...I don't get it...

The types don't have anything to do with the ports, if you have it connected trough the router it will say Type 2 regardless if its wired or wireless. If you want Type 1 you'd have to connect it directly from the modem.

if its going through cables, its better to have ti closer to the moddem. it still has to travel through the cables and loses speed as it goes through.

@Emblemz Get a network hub, set your wired laptop to a static IP on your wired ethernet (and your PS3 as well). Connect to the wifi on your laptop then right click the wireless connection, go to properties -> advanced tab, enable sharing. Google for how to set a static IP if you need, or send me a message
