  • spear to the balls? now that's just bad sportsmanship!

  • 1:14

"Very very heavy, no flexibility, arrow can pierce it easily"

Please check out the channel of YouTube user ThegnThrand, and you will learn how REAL viking/saxon round shields were made and how they handle. You'll be suprized how agile those shields were. Many modern reproductions are mostly indeed too heavy and inaccurate.

    1:32

    "wooden shield + chainmail = 50 pounds"

That's more accurate. 12lbs wooden shield covered with leather, 25lbs maille, 3lbs helmet, gambeson, shoes, spear, sword.

  • The old sword into the groin move. Ouch

  • This is probably the best historical show ever.

  • fucking chelsea...how dare they name their stadium after the great saxon victory!

  • @LDD86 It is a pity that more people know Stamford Bridge as the stadium rather than the heroic victory. Oh well, thats modern society :(

  • Lol that viking got stabbed in the groin. xD

  • @landofold ya but he took out 40 by himself ,, its said he was very large a giant of a man

  • @landofold

    His only weakness...

  • Tell me if that policeman of this 'crack troops' that speak at 0:42 is a castrate or just a boy of 12 that has not gone his muation yet. But then why he is serving in this force? Do British don't have some real men for such a job?

  • @KrzysiekWawrytko It's a fucking woman you idiot.

  • @ImperiumBritannica

Of course it was an irony if you know what it means. It requires at least about 20 IQ level which you obviously lack. Do not bother yourself replying - emails from halfwits (once they have disclosed themselfs as you did) are ignored by me.

  • @KrzysiekWawrytko What a masive cunt you are.

  • 1:40 Lol, try MINUTES.

  • What's with the crappy dramatised bits? Looks more like the cast of Hollyoaks at cubcamp.

  • oh.... i clicked this one first and i thought that this was a documentary about police tactics.

  • right at the start of 5:02, i think that guys wearing a T-shirt :/

  • LOL the police are fighting each over to the death! :D

  • how embarrassing they chose a faggot to be the saxon

  • Comment removed

  • It seems they are using the more flexible roman formation rather than the shield wall or phalanx.

  • 180 miles? i heard it as 250. Oh well, BBC always surprises you.

  • Aside from the female dressed like a man, a decent segment to a great vid. Does anyone know the name of the Viking hero who held up the Saxon advance?

  • harold hastrada

  • Jup, but i learned him as Harald Hardraarda, he was a viking legend. In Constantinople he earned his fame by killing almost the half of the guards on his own. But what a anticlimaxic end, stuck down from below....

  • Get used to it, the fems wont stop until all of our beautiful women become like men!

  • @TheMedievalMan It was awfaul seeing that girl as a police man, WOW I cant imagine myself (Im a girl) in a men job, thats just not right =S

  • No one knows his name. Harold Hardrada was killed later on by an arrow in the throat.

  • yeah, at stamford

  • @RookhKshatriya actually it was he eyee soo there lol

  • no it wasn't Hardaada, he was the viking leader and he was shot with an arrow to the neck.

  • No one really knows his name, if you can read Old Norse then read the Sagas of the Vikings, it is likely in there. Feel sorry for him, he got a spear in his bollocks

  • no, shotgun phlanx is more intresting and epic

  • @lxgiwylgta HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA No.

  • @LackOfSoulDisease HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA No.

  • a guy gets into a handily placed barrel, sneaks under the bridge and stabs the enemy in the groin? what a load of bs.

  • soon soon soon a revolution is coming...down with norman bankster royals

  • You can see how Norman police is training to opress poor Anglo-Saxons.

  • when the saxon says "and we were like..." man that made me cringe

they need to do the "dramatised" realistically or not bother

  • @McBinary I know it's like an amatuer production play for schools.

  • @McBinary Awful. No need for it whatsoever.

  • @McBinary

I disagree. There was slang back then, too. (For instance: "bollocks" meant "nonsense" even then.) It's not as though everyone in late Saxon England spoke "proper" West Saxon. In fact, probably very few did, and these were educated. If you could faithfully translate what they would have said into modern English as of 2010, there would be plenty of "and we were like..."-type expressions.

  • right into his groin!
