Good bikes but the finish is poor on later models, the frame on my 2009 model was rusting in under a year. I now ride a hyosung which is pretty similar but better finished.
I'm looking to get one to as my first big bike but its hard to find one thats not been raced or crashed I'm also looking at the gt650r @PandehPropaganda
@FletchersVisions the only thing i did is putting a slip-on exhaust from BOS on it... the rest is stock, i dont know why it was so fast for a 650. i now have a cbr954rr and still i think that the sv650 was quicker the first 50 meters.
Eff the haters. This video is trick bro. I had a 06 ZX6R 636 and yes it was a lot faster then the SV i have now but the SV doesnt need all the expensive tear downs to check the valves every year or the 4,000 mile tires every damn year.....I can do my own oil changes now and the bike is fun......NICE with the 954 by the way i wanted one forever ; )
I bought an SV650 2 weeks ago. It's a 2008 (K8) model. It's the dog's bollocks!! I love it. I have a big ol' Scorpion exhaust on it and have taken the baffle out. It makes the V-twin sound awesome. Handling is sweet and acceleration will make you smile! I'm putting a video on here any day now.
i'm debating between the ninja 650r and the sv650, i like the leaning forward of the sv cause i sat on one... i never sat on the ninja 650r. BUT which bike is more user-friendly considering it will be my first bike? In terms of looks i love the sv look but the ninja is also good looking as well so it's kinda hard to decide. Performance is not an issue both are the same cc's and i probably wont have the skills or talent to bring these bikes to their maximum potential anyways!! Thanks in advance
@plehdehgame Id choose sv over the ninja. Its a close one but the ninja is in my opinion just a starter bike, sure its great and is fun to ride but i think you'll soon be craving for more. The sv on the other hand is good for new riders and seasoned riders alike, power delivery is smoooth through every gear. This allows new riders to gain confidence through corners while not worrying about what gear is best for each turn, and also xperienced riders love it for the vtwin grunt.ninj-commuting sv-riding
is this a good bike to start on? regardless of size? I heard any bike is good ranging from 250-650cc and i was also advised to stay away from inline-4 bikes and stick to v-twins. meaning this would be a good choice. But i just got into the motorcycle world i was wondering if anyone can tell me the bikes that are good for starters...I'm into sportbikes with fairings and must be able to take highway speeds without struggle. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
@plehdehgame I got a sv650 and i can tell u that this is a very nice bike for starterst...its among the fastests 650ccm bikes (very sportive) but still easy to handle for beginners.
but if u prefer to take the highway u should take at least the S version for better ergonomics!
u could also take the kawasaki er-6n or the Honda cbf600 but i would advise u the sv650!
A true driver have to care about security, a bike is a serious thing. If you don't see the reason to wear bike cloth, you don't respect your bike nor yourself.
Moto School didn't learn you to ride like that, that"s shame and I think many agree with me. Then peeople go to hospital and say Bikers are unconscious or don't care about their life et other's life. Period.
If you are coming back with an argument like "it's the law to wear a helmet only so I'm not breaking the law" then how do you explain riding with one hand and speeding? Sure, it's cool to see the acceleration and respect for that but you're not doing yourself any favours by posting a bike video with high speed and no gear, just look at every Nike video on YouTube and read the comments on gear... You didn't seriously think you would have any different treatment?!
Must be a ton of air force fags posting on this video cause most of the comments seem to focus on the dude not wearing enough gear. Get the fuck over it why do so many of you care what other people do? If he dies how the fuck does it impact you? so shut the fuck up and worry about yourself instead. Stop telling what to wear and how to ride, as long as I'm not breaking the law or putting you in danger it's not your concern.
@bytheway0416 air force fags? im having a hard time keeping up with this comment... so your saying everyone in the air force is concerned about riders wearing gear and everyone else doesn't give 2 shits? i find your stereotypical logic flawed... maybe its you who needs to keep your comments to yourself.
Sweet. Good video actually shows the acceleration in some context that makes sense. Don't mind the wingy vaginas calling you a squid. They probably don't ride.
@fler009 So, I've been spending three years planning to drive a motorcycle. Now I'm 18, got some money, information. All I need to do is take the classes for my license, and a family member whose rode motorcycles for 20 years is going to teach me. At first my choice was the Kawasaki Ninja 250 for my first bike..
But while looking for one to rent to practice on, I fell inlove with this one. So I think I'm going to settle with this :D
@booneepperson1994 I agree with @fler009, it is a great bike to start off on. Just as long as you ride responsible and safe. You go looking for trouble, then you will find it. I have this bike and it is my first bike.
I'd say only if you feel like you are mature, and hopefully have some 2 wheeled experience. They have enough power to get you into trouble if you aren't cautious as a beginner.
right i'm getting one! nimble, light, stops well and 650 v-twin power in a small frame! can just imagine that's what some knobhead in a Focus RS will see and think it's a 125, try racing then gets left for dead!
@torontothegood that is true. i was thinking about the naked version, at a glance you can only see one cylinder. need to see an SV in the flesh to get a feel for the size. maybe it's just me, i ride an 82 honda CX500 (don't laugh!) and it's a big chunky thing, sat on my uncle's Harley 883 sportster and that felt tiny compared to my CX! good point you made though, silly me! i was too shocked at the acceleration to fully look at the size of it! an SV will feel small after a bulky CX.
@raddpuppy70 its off the show called rocket power!! an it was a kid on there named squid an he was a noob , an only noobs ride with no protection every real biker knows better!! regardless of who you are!!
@XmisterIS this is for all you guys who think i always ride like this... the video was 2 years ago, i now ride a honda cbr fireblade 2003 and i always wear full protection.
You don' have to be riding fast to crash. It takes that one person driving a car who doesn't see you to ruin your weekend...even if you're doing everything right.

@fler009 how much did the fairings cost ya? im looking for a sv650s but they seem pretty expensive to find used..i dont wanna buy a ninja 500 cuz its ugly!
Your motorcycle has to good acceleration. But seriously better get dressed in something protective. You can be the best driver but you have to be aware that car drivers often force their way throught the intersections . My brother has a silver sv 650. The only thing he has done is the K&N air filter. Now he has 8 more horses. On the dyno showed only 80 horses. Your obviously has more. Can you tell what improvements have you done?
soooo what made you decide to just take off again? i didn't see a head nod or a thumps up or you even look over. that was kinda weird. nice bike though!!
I have always loved Suzuki's and im having a rough time weather to buy a 08 650s or a 10'' YZF6R. I love the V twin sound and looks better. I have test rode a yamaha and for the life of me cant find a Suzuki deal but 100 ml from where I live. Could anyone please give me some advice about the Suzuki and there impression?
@brokamp21 i just traded my sv650 for an cbr954rr fireblade because it started to bore me after 2 years, but if you are a starter i can say that the sv650 is one of the best bike to learn driving.
@fler009 I think most people would agree that acceleration is more important then top speed. I never break 150 Mph ever just because theres no need but accelerations everything when it comes to over taking ect :)
Excellent. I had a 2001 naked sv650, Great bike which taught me alot. Loved the fun factor. Now got a 2005 Firestorm, not mental but a bit brisk. Love it. Safe riding #=)
@redirishsv lol i had a red K6 and i envy you, i traded that bike in for a GSXR600 K7 and now i have a GSXR600 K9 but i still regret getting rid of the little SV, it just did it's job, it was fast enough for road riding and it was comfortable. And the best part of it all was the embarassment i caused to the sports bike owners on the twisty roads ... here i was on this little budget sports tourer waiting for the "fast" bikes to catch up. LOL
@fler009 its your life do with it what you will other people ahve no right o bitch at you for doing what you want.also ive never seen a sv650 go that hard.
I have a 2001 SV650 (stripped model) and I love it. So much torque. Not to mention they love corners. I have road CBR929R's, 750R Ninjas, and a handful of other bikes, and I still think the SV is the most fun for the money. The front forks are a little soft but with limited suspention upgrades it would be a perfict bike

Excellent. I had a 2001 naked sv650, Great bike which taught me alot. Loved the fun factor. Now got a 2005 Firestorm, not mental but a bit brisk. Love it. Safe riding #=)

redirishsv 1 year ago
@redirishsv i have the same... i could swap for an gsxr 750 k2 or an tl1000r but i had the feeling that i would regret it (sorry for my english)
fler009 1 year ago
@redirishsv lol i had a red K6 and i envy you, i traded that bike in for a GSXR600 K7 and now i have a GSXR600 K9 but i still regret getting rid of the little SV, it just did it's job, it was fast enough for road riding and it was comfortable. And the best part of it all was the embarassment i caused to the sports bike owners on the twisty roads ... here i was on this little budget sports tourer waiting for the "fast" bikes to catch up. LOL
