Really well structured song. IT'S A MASSIVE SHAME THE LEAD GUITARIST WASN'T UP TO SPEED. There's a big empty gap for a solo. Can you imagine MJ's BEAT IT without the Eddie Van Halen solo? Same thing.
This song was originally released on Little River Band's eight studio album called "Playing to Win" it was the second album to feature John Farnham on lead vocals and the first to be recorded by the band in the United States the title tracked which was released in December 1984 reached No.59 on the Australian Singles Chart, No. 15 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart and No. 60 on The Billboard Hot 100. Channel 7 used "Playing to Win" as its football promo for its VFL coverage in early 1985.
The dude on the Keytar is David Hirschfelder, one of the finest musicians Australia has produced. He makes his money composing film scores these days. I saw him playing with his fusion band, Pyramid, many years ago at Jackson's Court in Carlton; incredible band and concert.
