As you can see, w/ her cute little giggle, she tells us that she's aware of that slight error in lyrics, that would throw off most performers, instead she manages to stay on cue with both feet firmly planted in time for the next measure and finishes out the song effortlesssly making this performance triumphant. I'm sure hardly anyone even noticed her lyrics mishap by the end of the song. Brilliant!

This performance shows just how much of a pro Miss Ross is. I know many are thinking, "Wait a minute, how can you say that? Didn't she mess up on the lyrics when she sang "not even time to fly from birds to southern skies.." instead of "not even time for birds to fly to southern skies"? But it's because of this mistake that brings out Diana the pro.

Diane at her best!!That frock weighs an absolute TON as well!!It's made out of CRYSTALS!!!!It's SO heavy she needs help even LIFTING the thing to put it on (i spent a whole day backstage in her dressing room with her at Knotsberry Farm where she was doin 2 shows a day,an she was wearin that gown then!!)It was quite an experience getting to know Diane...LOVE her (an i'm talkin about HER not 'Diana'!!)!!

This was performed at the 1984 Academy Awards in March of 1985. The song won the Oscar for Best Song. I'm not sure why Stevie Wonder didnt perform it? But I love Diana here!
