  • A funky nun! mwe he

  • At the end: AH MEN! lol

  • I tried to write a paper due for tomorrow but couldn't because I was watching Horrible Histories, specifically ones with Mat in it. I couldn't. I kept squealing. Then went to watch Doctor Who and write my paper then realized John Simms was in it. Fail. ^^

  • What did Jim do with his manuscript? It just disappeared!

  • anyone know what Tune this is spoofing? it sounds like a song from the 1990s but i can't figure it out. 0:00 to 0:45

  • Why is this stuck in my head...I'm trying to do coursework!

  • @stephs06 Is it history :)

  • @shannonbaynton alas, its a postgraduate career module thing haha!

  • FUCKING AWESOME

  • It is true that a lot of illegitimate children in the Middle Ages were in fact born to nuns...

  • This programme is one of my favourite comedy shows of recent years, because it's subject matter is so relevant now. This song needed a gag about the paedo-priests of today, but it could be contempt of court if a case came to trial.

  • She says "ah, men!" I started screaming "YOU'RE CELEBATE!!!!"

  • @PoisonMarigold pfft not in the middle ages they weren't.

  • I dont do these but 12 people obeyed the bishop

  • play that funky music funk boyyyy! xD

  • So the monks did bad stuff behind the Bishop's back - like boozing and womanizing and killing - yet one monk at Borely Rectory falls for a nun and they hang him for it? Unbelievable!

  • The dislikes of this video better hope they don't meet me in a dark alley, especially when I'm angry!!!

  • LOL get into the party habit girl friend

  • And I thought that Cadfael using a sword was against the monks rules!

  • Ah - MEN!!! LOL

  • Is the Bishop Terry Deary?

  • @MultiBelle22 yeah it is... :)

It's like when Stan Lee is in.. well basically the majority of the marvel movies

  • @KimbobCraig Or like Alfred Hitchcock having cameos in his own films - thanks xxx

  • @MultiBelle22 i was wondering that too :)

  • @roxsziegalrox55 Sorry, which comment are you replying too coz I have posted several x

  • @MultiBelle22 i dont remember haha

  • @MultiBelle22 : Yep, Terry Deary does cameos as monks a couple times, IIRC.

  • @SarahPepperfur Yeah, I've got a feeling he also plays Matilda's grandad in their Mud and Matilda sketch1

  • Is the Bishop Terr Deary?

  • Shame Larrys not in this one, he'd make a perfect monk.....

  • Did the monks really have fun when the bishops back was turned?

  • Why did the monks have bald patches?

  • hunky funky chunky monks indeed! it looks like Matt is wearing sneakers lol. but he is very cute!

  • monks had bowl cuts?? :P

  • My 3 favorite H H actors as the monks (mat, Jim and Ben)

  • are these specifically capuchin monks?

  • like this if you paused at 0:23! mat your smexy even in a robe!

  • That Bishop must be deaf - they start singing when he's halfway out the door. hehe

  • @mrstarranthightopp Maybe he is and he can only lip-read!

  • Love this song

  • Mat looks like a Vulcan... Just putting that out there.

  • @faixkurogane ... Yeah. <3

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! FUNKY MONKS!

  • Ah, men! Innuendo on children's tele. Quality!

  • @ScrumbleNuts you rarely see that these days

  • Yay Mat is monk, he can't marry!

  • she..he can't talk and his name is.....Wayne

    xD LMAO

  • the nun in the "party habit"...that's so lame it's funny

  • hes in every episode somewhere

  • This is actually true. In the middle ages the Catholic Church was totally corrupt with rich men being able to buy positions within the church (eg The Borgias). The priests and monks were mainly uneducated drunks and womanizers who took money from the people in the form of taxes. It all came to a head when Martin Luther pinned the 95 Theses to the doors of Wittenburg cathedral.

  • @Kerriangel

hm, you´re rather talking about the very late medieval, early new-ages (Renaissance). Because in medieval times there was the reformation beginning with Pope Alexander IV (10th - 12th century). Problem was that nobility could constitute bishops without papal permission, the German Emperor could even force the Pope to step down if he felt like.

  • @highmast3r The popes themselves were highly corrupt and political. In 1394 there were two popes & 3 in 1409, all claiming to be the right one. Most came from Italian noble/ merchant families who were basically mobsters. They promoted their family members to those positions and monasteries like these were commercial powers that fielded armies and ran brothels, the popes profited. Monk-students were also violent and destructive, like at the University of Paris. They didn't live the simple life.

  • @Kerriangel They also preserved literature and the Latin Language. The Roman's and Greek's writings and scriptures would almost certainty have vanished into obscurity and eventually been forgotten if not for the Church and it's roll in preserving said cultures. Of course, there is also the fact that they provided stability within Europe, helped manage agriculture and single-handedly preserved most medical and educational practices of previous centuries. Quod Erat Demonstrandum, eh?

  • @Thurman321

You're talking about Byzantium and the part of Europe the Muslims conquered, my friend.

  • @WeAreTheRiot Muslim Iberia was far too war-wracked to be productive to any great degree, and while admittedly much of Greece's history was preserved by Byzantium, France, Italy, the Princedoms of the Holy Roman Empire, and to a lesser degree, Spain, along with various other regions in Europe, all preserved Latin and their history overall within the Catholic Church, which also ran the majority of Education facilities in those regions for about 1000 Years, a bit more.

  • @Thurman321 Medicine was also preserved, at least, more abrasive medical practices such as surgery practices, and knowledge of Human physiology, via the Church and the vast volumes of books many monasteries produced up until the invention of the printing press. The Church was also in some regions, responsible for aiding the state in the distribution of food. I fail to see how Byzantium and Muslim Europe aided Food production and provided stability to Europe.

  • @Thurman321 Arabs preserved more writing and medicine than they did. At any rate that's not hard to write books when you're not taxed, you can collect your own tax (tithe), you get constant donations, the nobles protect you and you are given the richest farmland in Europe. As for the education bit, they were famously uneducated (hence they burned witches and heretics). Not to mention that they were like little kings with armies and serfs that were always trying to run their countries (some did!)

  • @Kerriangel *Implying the Catholic Church isn't corrupt now...

  • Wow. I could swear they sang "f***" at some point...

  • Oh they should do a nun version - admittedly it would mostly be veiled women extolling the virtues of beer but hey...

  • matt should be called 'Spunky' not chunky.

  • @LaniandAshTV i think hunky is more accurate <3

  • If they don't like living in a monastery then why don't they just leave the monastery????

  • yay funky nun lucky nun i wish i was her shoes

  • Here's a fun fact if you didn't already know. The bishop here is played by Terry Deary, author of the original Horrible Histories books. Just thought I'd mention.

  • @SilentArtist269 i already knew it was terry deary cos my friend showed me a pic of him (random) and i recognised him and ive seen this episode on tv and saw in the credits 'terry deary' so yeh your not the only one who knows that

  • @SilentArtist269 YES!!!

  • @SilentArtist269 i know it is

  • @SilentArtist269 thnx 4 the fact (i didn't no so thnx!)

  • @SilentArtist269 I knew that! :) He's great and he always pops up in random sketches. Like in series 1 he played Santa Claus stuck up a Victorian chimney, and a Greek soldier hiding in the Trojan Horse. If I'm not mistaken, he's also the guy in the rocking chair in the Cowboy Song. I recognised him straight away in the first sketch I saw him in-I recognised his voice cos he read the audio versions of some of the books that came free with some newspaper.

  • @SilentArtist269 I hope he's proud of his books and the TV series that has sprouted from them-I certainly would be! Terry Deary is the creator of the best thing on Earth. I Love Horrible Histories!!!!!

  • @SilentArtist269 Just saw his interview today actually. So I recognised him and was quite delighted to see him in that role.
