@guitarkiller53 theres no way you were in the military at 17 yes you can enlist at 17 like I did but I'm 18 now and still waiting to go to Marine corps recruit training, and its any branch as well you can enlist at 17 but you have to wait till after high school or have an high school equivalence to actually join and you might be able to do that while 17 but you would spend more than a year and in schools and training before you get deployed also you first said RPG attack now its mortars? yeah ok

My best friend, a guy I knew for 18 years and graduated SF training with, died next to me last year after an IED attack. It's all good and well talking about it from your comfortable home, but very few people will understand the feeling of looking next to you and seeing your dead friends face. I was at our mobilization point in Texas a week after my 18th birthday getting ready for deployment. I don't know whether i would have deployed with my unit had my birthday been much later or not. Regardless, unless you're extremely familiar with the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) I would refrain from calling complete strangers liars about the possible loss of their legs.

@hickamflyboy I agree with you. My brother serves and so do a large number of my friends. I ask that people please stop bashing our troops everyday. Unfortunately our request will never be granted. There will always be soldier hate. Soldiers do their job knowing the thanks if sometimes lacks, but no matter what, they've always got out back's. the haters don't realize that the soldiers are the reason that they are free to even be capable of hating them. Its a shame!

Anyone who is in the armed forces is a hero. My stepdad deployed to Iraq yesterday and is going to be gone for the rest of this year and half of next year.

How come they are fighting for a government in Afganistan that has made rape to a human right, forced marriages of 12 year olds legal and who sentence people tio death for being gay?
Why are they then bombing hospitals, mosques, weddings, villiges, farmers and others? Why are they shooting women and children?

@profanum88 I dont' think you actually know what's going on there. It's not the government in Afghanistan who thinks these things, it's militia groups who call themselves holy warriors. And they are not bombing hospitals and schools and so on, why should they? it's not a fucking party down there, it's fucking war. Besides they are definitely not shooting women and children on purpose. I just don't see why you have to go against the soldiers in this war, because they are just doing their job.

I loved this video! For us who have lost loved ones in a war--this is for us! They soon realize its not a game--especially when they see what they see and do what they have to do--when they see a friend blown up or die. My grandson is one of those young men over there now--risking his life to protect.buddies.friends..his "family"--both there and here. Ok you don't have to agree w/ this war-at least respect those who fight and/or give their life...This song for those of us who love them!!!!!!!

@taz271 I joined the guard at 17 and went to basic the summer before my senior year in high school. I was at our mobilization point in Texas a week after my 18th birthday getting ready for deployment. I don't know whether i would have deployed with my unit had my birthday been much later or not. Regardless, unless you're extremely familiar with the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) I would refrain from calling complete strangers liars about the possible loss of their legs.
