  • I've gotta say - and this is unusual for me - that this cover was in the same class as EJ's. Maybe not as good as the Ephesus version, but still it was awsome! Though can anyone say that she can perform it live?

  • bellissima

  • what a wonderful song

  • she is incredible singer...her voice is wonderfull... ...kisses from Brazil ...

  • great version

  • One of the greatest pop recordings of the last quarter of the 20th century.

  • fantastic voice.. just amazing..

  • She is amazing. Never forget when I first heard Get Here. Why did she never reach superstar status, or did I just miss it?

  • I like Elton John's and George Michael's version of this song BUT Oleta had put more emotion and ''umph'' in it to make it more inspirational. She has that natural vocal gift when she sings remakes.

  • Wonderful!

  • great rendition ot this beautiful song

  • absolute fabulous... love that woman!

  • niesamowity głos!!! te dwa pedały niech wracają na drzewo

  • sie gieje mówi:} rajt!!

  • Love this one and Get Here... Love Oleta Adams, despise UMG!

  • What a gift she has!

  • beautiful full of soul you can sing in my church any time sound make the temple stronger God has truely blessed you with the gift

  • Can we all just agree that mz. adams did a wonderful job on this song, and stop comparing voices?

  • she shortened the fuck out of it

  • oleta adams- same song

  • The black' men know sing the soul pain, she's the great singer....

  • Nós, negros sabemos na alma, como cantar a dor da nossa raça, dos nossos ancestrais, isso está inserido na nossa historia...Esse video, essa cantora, mostra bem nossa alma...

  • Flawless Delivery by Oleta. As always.

  • She should duet with David Archuleta. Listen to his version. They both have beautiful and pure voices.

  • great version! Who the hell made this video? Her head keeps going in and out...had to stop looking

  • LOL!

  • Too beautiful to be described.

  • i love this song. It has so much meaning. You can do anything you put your mind too.

  • I loved what someone said once, that Oleta Adams and Roland Orzabal should get married so they can sing together in morning, afternoon, evening, and maybe all night. They are fantastic alone but together they can move mountains. She is going to be at the BB King club in Manhattan later this month. I am so going to see her. Can't wait.

  • How was Oleta Adam's gig, butterfly?

  • Oleta Adams performing live was one the most amazing concerts I've ever been to. And she is coming back to New York in February. Guess who is going to be there again... yes, meeeee =)

  • gorgeous, thanks for posting this great version of a great song

  • what a beatiful clear silky voice without all the yelling i love it, i love it, i love it, this is and will always be one bad lady!!!!!!!!

  • elton who? sounds better than him ,i have never heard any body say that she can not sing.her voice is so pure, Mrs.Adams is very talented.

  • You are a fucking idiot. Seriously.

  • Oleta Adams what a avoice!!!!!!soulful and heartfelt, you just felt the the lyrics of songs

  • silky and full of soul..............

  • My gods!!! her voice rocks. She has a tremendous voice and talant. I need to hear more.

  • she is good :)

  • oleta has the most beautiful, smooth voice ever

  • gänsehaut pur! ihre stimme ist echt der hammer!

  • Why isnt this woman more popular than she is?!?!

  • cuz she's not neked. and laying out on the piano with a weave

  • wow so true

  • that is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO true!!!!

  • Because people would rather listen to Britney who can't sing worth a damn.

  • Agree

  • very nice cover, but you can't beat george's voice.

  • Her voice is so natural! I give Elton his credit but I must say I prefer hearing this beautifuly talented lady perform it. She brings a special life to it. What a gift she has. These yong performers today can't hold a candle to these performers.

  • Magnifica!!!!

  • grazie amica mia!

  • No, no, my friend...

I doubt if it is gonna appear someone who sings this song better than Elton.

Not this song. I doubt if I will still be alive to see somebody as good as (or even better) than Elton John.

  • I love this version - her voice can bring out emotion in even the most guarded person. I prefer the Elton John version but there's no doubt this one is an amazing tribute. She can sing SO well!

  • Ditto, and in fact it surpasses the George/Elton version.....

  • great version dumb video

  • Yes!

  • I've loved this version for many, many years.. A definite favorite. And Yes, although Elton wrote it and sang it so differently, obviously, his will always be the standard by which all others are measured. Oleta's version still leaves me with a warm smile on my face. Her voice, her natural ability, her interpretation of this song, still affect me deeply. I think she is an amazing, beautiful woman, and I am so glad to have found this. Thank You!!

  • i love this woman!

  • beautiful song....thank you, Chaz

  • dedicated in memory of the one and only Margo Monroe

  • Ladies and Gentlemen - Mr. Elton John!

    (His best)

  • She's like the precursor to Heather Headley. Incredible dark toned voice and range.

  • it doesn't matter who sings it better (even though I prefer the Elton John/George Michael version).

Elton and Bernie Taupin WROTE the song.

That's a greater feat than any one performance.

  • yes you're right this version is better than elton johns ..

  • I like Elton John... But she sings that song better :-)

  • Awesome voice bad video.

  • awsome video, but when she crosses the screen it kinda creeps me out lol

  • She is unbelievably brilliant!!!

  • Agree! Brilliant voice, brilliant piano - definitely the best version of this song.

  • If you want to see, feel, and hear true command of music and notes, get a ticket to her concert. I guarantee you, when you leave your heart, soul, and emotion will be stirred . When Oleta sings, there are few who can command the air to render their voice flawless, seamless, and fluid. So many of us base our likes and dislikes on what we experienced in our formative years and match it to current situations. Few, if any, performers could hold a candle to her. Experience it for yourselves.

  • that sounds amazing!i would love to go to a concert of hers!

  • You post like a Ku Kluxer. I wanna take you to the landfill and let you decay like the garbage you are.

  • i agree.fuck that!this woman is amazing and classic!

  • This women is a classic i love her

  • awesome

  • Great voice...thanks for the upload

  • It´s the second best version of the best song Elton has ever made. Nothing compares to the original version.

  • amazing vocals but the video is horrendous. You with the backup singers and the band and nothing else would have been sweet. your voice is a gift from God, thank you for sharing it

  • her work with tears for fears is bomb amazing voice woman in chains brings goosebumps...

  • Ive never heard this version. Its quite good !!:D

  • All I'm saying is that Elton is amazing. He is my favorie singer and to me no one can sing this song better. That doesn't mean this isn't a beautiful version. I just perfer the origional.

  • I really love Elton's version and always will. No one else's can compare.

  • comparing male vs female voices is like comparing apples and oranges.

  • elton's version is better. the best is elton and george michael, then elton's, then this. all are pretty good though.

  • comparing male vs female voices is like comparing apples and oranges.

  • better than Elton's solo version, but, of course, far less than elton and george michael's strangely gay, yet beautiful duet :)

  • překrásný

  • Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, Patti Labelle. These are unique voices and you can pick them out in your sleep. This woman can sit in the front row with these extraordinary ladies. You can bet money anything sung by her WILL make the original very proud

  • I love this woman, she is so underrated, doesn't get the props she deserves.

  • She is an amazing singer... she sings with an emotional voice.

  • A greate song, a great artist.. I'm not sure, if the original from Elton John (duett with Georg Michael) is better than this version..

  • What a sensational singer! Oleta Adams is one of the most fabulous soul artists!

  • Simmering in gospel gravy!

  • omg. This is an Elton John/ Bernie Taupin composition from the early 70's. Oleta sung this cover with a host of other artistes (singing Elton's other songs) on an album which was a tribute to Elton John. Have to admit that I was bowled over by Oleta's very soulful rendition.

  • Yep er, Outstanding!

  • it's an elton song from the 70's, numbnuts.

  • COVER....COVER? This was out ages before Michael/John's COVER! Suddenly it disappeared off the airwaves and shelves! Amazing what a bit of fame can buy. ALWAY prefered this ORIGINAL!!

    Go Oletta!

  • I love a good cover song that does the original justice, and this certainly qualifies. While it is, obviously, different from Elton's original version, there is something to be said abt Oleta's powerful rendition: she sang the hell outta that song! Thank you for posting it. =0)

  • Powerful, sincere. amazing voice! You,ll not get much better than this! Oleta is perfect!

  • i have been listening 2 oleta adams since i was about 5 and i'm now 16. still lovin her and all her music. she is my idol!

  • Great voice. Great arrangement. I'm a jazz pianist, and finally after hearing this,I'm going to learn my first Elton John tune.

  • By looking at her you wouldnt think she has all of that power and warmth to her voice. Never judge a book by its cover. She sounds great. And from what I see on her other clips, she's mega talented.

    Bless the Lord

  • are you deaf??? one of Americas greatest voices.... check her out doing "get here if you can". reply when you have heard it... my litte tin ear friend.

  • Holy cow, can this lady sing, or what!!! Awesome.

  • nice version !!

    I reallyyy like it !!

  • I so like this version better

  • I'm always partail to orginal versions, but this rocks!!! Oleta I wanna hear you sing gospel, I bet it's breath taking!!!

  • simply put............fantastic

  • What a great voice, one of the most unique ever! Ever since I heard "Get Here" I was hooked! Br avo Oleta...I am sure Elton and Bernie are flattered.

  • Great song, Oleta's singing gives me goosebumps too. I only focus on her when watching the video. Credit goes to Bernie Taupin, Elton John, and Roland Orzabal also.

  • NO ONE sings like Oleta Adams. Simply amazing (and how 'bout the choir!!!)

  • Top!

  • ...nice that you're keeping an open mind.

  • Don´t forget that this version was produced by Roland Orzabal (frontman of tears for fears). Excellently produced, recorded and obviuslly, she is amazing. and if you listen carefully, during the main chorus, the voice of Orzabal is heard... (in the youtube version is difficult because of the poor quality)

  • I saw Oleta in person once, she sat and played the piano and sang her heart out, it gave me goose bumps.

  • The best!

  • i thought that someone did a original video for this song i do not know what artist did that before this one.

  • elton john

  • I cry :( LOVE this song/album

  • Im not saying i hate it or love it okay???

  • I love Oleta Adams. Sang girl sang.

  • I just love this song and this is one of my favorite versions

  • Such a big voice comes out a small lady.

    Beautiful version of this song...

  • Extremely beautiful voice. God bless you sista Oleta.

  • She's got such a beautiful smile when she sings. Makes it that much more enjoyable when listening to her beautiful voice.

  • Una magnífica interpretación de una de las mejores canciones de Elthon y Bernie, Que voz!!!

  • Oleta Adams is one of the greatest of all times... Love her and her best is Get Here!!!

  • I really like this version of the song very much! I first heard her in the Buick Enclave commercial singing "Feelin' Good" and had to find out who that singer was on the internet. I'm glad I did - she's excellent!!!

  • This is the only other version of this song I like. She does a great job on this song. Also on the same CD is a version of "Come Down in Time" sang by Sting that is also a great.

  • England 57.. I wonder what possessed your parents to make you.. a person with a mind as useless as your own.

  • She does a great job!

  • awesome version...she brought Church to one of Elton's classics and it sounds awesome...it gives me goosebumps!!! GReat job and what a joy to listen... thank u for posting!!!!

  • what sad, small world do you live in that you think comments such as this are acceptable and funny? for your info (and baby, you need a lot of info, not to mention a brain, heart and soul), elton john loves oleta adams' version of this song. i'd love you see you spout your vile, racist comments to sir elton and watch and hear his reaction. that--now THAT--would be funny.

  • well done

  • Well to tell the truth this isnt as good as Elton Johns version but this is pretty Damn good an i love it just as much an i agree with chaszolin go get a brain you fucken monkey ass faced bitch go make front of your momma shes not as famous as the people your dissin

  • "thegem206" you raging half-brain... the only "monkey" here is *YOU*

Shocker for you: Elton himself would tell you you're an idiot. Oleta Adams comes directly out of the musical tradition that is one of Elton John's influences: American Gospel music.

Go find yourself a brain to think with, or learn how to use more than two brain-cells at once.

  • Wow I was outsmarted by a racist. I guess I'll stop commenting now you are just too smart for me

  • obviously someone doesn't recognize sarcasm when he reads it.

  • Monkey faced jungle bunny? Well there is a witty, well thought out comment from a person of obvious wisdom and charm. Now after reading that response we will all take everything you say from here on very seriously.

  • you racist CUNT shes got a superb voice face of a monkey, says The Keyboard warrior go kill yourself the world will be a better place.and Elton Johns a little blimp

  • i would love to see elton john's reaction to this post.

  • What a terrific, powerful, huge voice she has.

  • Powerful.....took the words out of my mouth !!!

  • The best version of this song ever!!!!!

  • if this woman couldnt fukin sing she would have such big hits u fukin cocks

  • LOL That's what's beautiful about this country. You have every right to be a tone-deaf ignorant racist. :)

  • Good God, she's amazing. One of the purest, most beautifully soulful voices of our time.

  • Oleta is great ... Thank you to Tears for Fears for sharing her with the world (Tears For Fears - Seeds of Love album)... This is a great cover of this song. The video seems pointless as it's sp unrelated to the song's story, and all you really need is to see her belting this one out!! Thanks for posting it!

  • beautiful..i luv it

  • lovers holiday video please upload!love you oleta..

  • a definite version of a great song. as for the "she sure can't sing, and she looks like a monkey" post, you poor, sad creature. why were you watching this in the first place--just to hate it and make vile comments? maybe you can find a more appropriate venue for your bile.

  • u are crazy.. one of thre best version.. and an amazing singer /musician..she's an alto.. asshole.. monkey is your mmother

  • nice cover, not in the same league as elton

  • Your just other dumbass ignorant person in this world that needs to grow up and learn the values of love and respect of others, remember that ill be prayin for you to smartin up and mature

  • another****

  • your a major youtube cock sucker

  • Come on back when you've had your hearing aid fixed.

  • Her eyes need checking as well.

  • Luv the tone of her voice. Goes right inside of you.

  • Wow, Oleta. Amazing.

  • The first time I heard this I it was released in NZ. I swear - that same week, the Elton John and George Michael version was released and totally overshadowed this Oleta's rendition. Absolutely tragic that Elton and Georges fame caused what is an incomparably better version of the song to be largely overlooked and unseen/unheard. YOU WERE ROBBED OLETA!!!!!

  • Wow Shes so good, Better then Elton.

  • The first time I heard this song sung by Oleta Adams, was Christmas 1995. I was driving home from the hospital after my mother passed away, and will never forget the powerful impression her voice carried.

After many years later, I am rediscovering the song, (never knew there was a video) and can still feel the goosebumps.

  • Never heard this before - she gave me goose-bumps!

  • elton John has alrady stated this is the best version of this song.

The scarey thing is she sings the dam song better in concert than on the record. Oleta is one bad ister

  • Easily the best version to date.

Previously I loved the Daltry take on it from "Lost Boys" but this just nails it!
