One things for sure, after Prometheus comes out, Aliens Vs Predator is going to make no fucking sense in the series at all. In that movie it said that Predators bred Aliens in the pyramid which means they had access to them somehow which means they had to have involvement with the space jockeys prior and frankly that all just doesn't make any fucking sense.

@stargroove4 The impression i get from reading all the Prometheus interviews and spoilers etc, is that the space jockeys or someone connected to them, created the alien (xenomorph)species as a "clean up" contigency for botched terraforming operations (earth being one of their terraforming experiments and human evolution being a by-product).

@stargroove4 Sowhat I'm saying, is that it makes no sense that humans would have had involvement with Predators prior to their involvement with space Jockeys or whatever it is, and it also makes no sense that humans have had involvement with Aliens (xenomorphs-think AvP backstory)prior to the space jockeys and yet still embark upon some (allegedly strange and mysterious) journey through space to seek our origins.I'm trying to suspend disbelief but somewhere the storyline just isn't going to fit.

@stargroove4 It would only make sense if the predators were in fact the space jockeys or space jockeys predators, but dual involvement with seperate alien species just isn't going to work thematically for one of these movie franchises. I suspect Ridley Scott is attempting to abandon the mythos put forth in the AvP franchise to a certain degree, but that is going to leave a bad taste in the mouths of fans if everything doesn't (and I mean everything) doesn't connect.

Fun to watch once or twice, and an entertaining what if scenario, but nothing more.

I think Alien is a great franchise, same for Predator, but mixing the two? Nope. Not working.

@TheIntuitiveMachine Agreed, I think Ridley is PISSED about the AVP swap. Maybe it worked as a cameo, being the alien skull, but shouldn't have been anything more.

That said, I own all the AVP movies and I think each and all are intricate stroies/side stories of the AVP AND alien worlds. I'll take whatever information I can get because I love both series. I play AVP everynight on PC and have a blast!!!We even got to FINALLY see a Predator planet in AVP Requim!

@stargroove4 AvP should have been "Aliens" with Predators interwoven into the chaos, just like its always been in the comics, the games, and the books. It should never have taken place on Earth, it should have been in space, sorry Paul Anderson but Antarctica is still not claustrophobic enough. And it should have been helmed by a director whose credits have more artistic weight than numerous video game adaptations (mortal Kombat, Resident Evil). I mean this R. Scott and J Cameron's brainchild

@stargroove4 That being said, I am psyched for Prometheus, because I am %99.9 sure that it is not going to suck and is going to make the series relevant again. And maybe,(hopefully) will open up the opportunity for an AvP that does not suck because its already been written many times over, someone just needs to adapt the comics to the screen (sin City style). I'm thinking I would love to see the Wachowski brothers give it a shot. They have a lot in common (stylistically) with HR Giger.

@TheIntuitiveMachine I think Scott will rely mainly on the source material of the first film to serve as the basis for Prometheus' screenplay. He directed the first film, so it's his baby, And besides, most people shut out any of the films that followed Aliens, so I don't think he's worried over viewers being turned off by any developments that might conflict with any of the later films.

@TheIntuitiveMachine I have never seen any of the Alien vs Predator films, so I wouldn't know what material might be breached. Is Prometheus going to be a standalone film or an attempt at creating a new franchise? I'm intrigued with Prometheus, but I don't think that Scott can create a new multi-film franchise with this source material. The only reason why this formula might work is because the formula here has thus far been untapped.

@jstephenj I'm pretty sure there are set to be two movies in the Prometheus storyline (read that somewhere I think). I don't thinkthe plan is to start a new franchise but to revitalize the original idea which Scott put forth in the beginning and which everyone (except Cameron IMO) has strayed so far away from. From what I've read I get the impression that Scott is returning to the heavy Giger influence, the original underlying themes from the first Alien in a new form, for a new audience.

In this video he is standing live near giant waterfall in which he filmed the opening scene for the movie, ironically the last shot of the filming too. and yes THERE are ALIENS!!!but theyre not in what looks to be eggs, but....some kind of....progenitor species....almost like 2 1/2 foot high cylinders with an almost rounded and smooth edges to the sides, and i believe theres some kind of....green goo in them but i cant get a clear view....

@d15er It's just a fleeting continuity, but Ridley Scott on the trilogy of Prometheus worked for more than ten years. It will be a similar mix of film Outland, Blade Runner, Wrath of Khan, Alien (1979), Sunshine and a few spices, such as Tron. Prometheus will be one of the best sci-fi in the last 20 years.
