@USABLONDIE you're very welcome- i hope you enjoy the other Johnny songs on the channel and i'm sure you must know there are other wonderful channels who focus only on Johnny . Enjoy!
@USABLONDIE - here are a few - 19rebel57; readmereadyou, 2samsonite, and others. To search for JM videos- put his name in the search window- to check daily, when the "Filter and Explore' comes up to FAR LEFT click arrow down and under "explore" (next to 'relevance" ,), click on "Uploaded Today" - and so on. Over a year ago someone named Gerrymoran1 put up a whole show from the 1980's in the UK- called Mathis Magic- it's terrific- so check that out. He no longer posts- but those are great.
Heard and saw him sing this version live at the Fairmont in San Francisco. Absolutely spellbounding--the entire evening was! Thank you, Lenore, for this and all!!
@BuckieBear - You're welcome, Sherrie- glad you are enjoying this- how lucky to have heard this one live- I feel that way about all of them- this is a great medley though- anything having to do with the Bergman's and Michel Legrand- what a foursome. As I just wrote on another video reply- Johnny's following is stupendous- and we need never ask why- he does 'spellbind' us, easily.
Johnny Mathis is truly God's gift to us.I believe many things have been revealed to him and his songs are his way to convey the messages of possible soul-healing in certain instances.I honour our God for giving such a vocal artist to us.Thank you for sharing this.
My life would be poor without this voice. I really mean this, his voice is the one addiction I have. I love this voice, and the voices owner so much. I often wonder if Johnny really knows what he does to us, and what his tribute to the wonderful
world of music means to us. I will never go tired of listening to this heavenly voice in almost whatever he is singing. I'm caught forever. Berit.
@beweau - I'm with you. The first time I heard Johnny's voice (in 1957) I was 12 years old and was completely spell bound. I have loved listening to him ever since and have heard him live many times. (Going to see him again on July 30th on Long Island, NY). I, too, have wondered if he really knows how much we fans adore him and what listening to him does to us.. I never tire of listening to him sing. Whenever Johnny sings a song, no matter who recorded that song, it becomes his.
@flagday45 Yes, when a song is touched by Johhny, then it's his forever. I have loved this voice, and adored its origin for fifty years. From my teens. I have never seen him live, but I will in october. I'm going to UK (from Norway) to see him in all three concerts . Am I happy? Yes, and yes! Berit.
Have this and every song he ever recorded. Got his autograph years ago when he was standing at a main intersection. He was in town to do a talk show. Very humble, shy then and always so very talented. What a voice!
@MrCharleysmom - How nice- your interaction- Johnny is such a kind person- it's obvious- and humble. And a voice that doesn't quit. glad you enjoyed this. Great to have a such a collection. thank you for stopping by.
Oh do..and please let me know...I simply adore his songs..have every album..from way back...thru my high school years.and beyond..and now with youtube..I find myself going to his music..and spending..so much time..listent to all of them.....TY!
@dar4869 Do you know how to search for new videos everyday? Youtube has made it harder for people to find videos-even subscribers- so if you dont' know- you just type in for instance, Johnny Mathis, in the search window, click search and then along the top left it says "search options"- click on that- and then along the top in the middle it says "Upload date" and under that Anytime, Today, This week, This month. Click on "today" or whenever you come on if not daily- and you'll find new JM's. :)
@dar4869 - you're very welcome! I"m sure you've found some of the other great JM channels- 19rebel57, readmereadyou- and others. Come back again- thank you:)
As a life long fan of Johnny's....knowing all of his songs...loving them all...I stumbled across this one...and it is..one of the most beautiful I have ever heard..the lyrics...are unbelievable..and yet so simple..I will be playing this one..often..Thank You..for posting it...
@dar4869 - you're so welcome! I was thinking today- i'm tempted to redo one of them from another CD of his that I adore "How do you Keep the Music Playing" - i have a few videos from that up. I love the diversity in the way he sings it here vs. there- different- and wonderful both. Enjoy- so glad you found it.
I played this at my late Husband's Funeral. He died at 24 in a motorcycle accident on October 13, 1976 and I became a widow left with a 7 1/2 year old son. It was befitting as "I was born" came from the movie Wuthering Heights. There was not a dry eye and although it takes me right back to that day, I look back fondly knowing it was the perfect song for that day. Thank you Michele Legrand and Johnny Mathis.
@bransonbelle - thank you for sharing your memories- it's quite poignant and obviously means so much- music transports us in so many ways- I'm sorry for your loss. I didn't know know that "I was born" was from Wuthering Heights- will listen for that next time I watch it- another wonderful romance. Take care.
mathis handles these songs as if they were written for him alone. apart from sarah vaughan, no one can bring the beauty alive. one word...class. thank you.
Thanks so much for sharing - I don't know if you read the side notes- Jay Landers quote (record producer)- but he has said such similar wonderful comments about Johnny- truly in a 'class' as you say, by himself., Lucky us. Enjoy!
oh so beautiful
