hey i was just wondering, is this game pretty simple? there are some games that just have pages of explaining and everything, is this one of those, or is it pretty much self explanatory?

@Avatarless It doesn't have the community *anymore*. It used to, but now adays everyone is to busy clusterf***ing at warfields to help your novice player. I personally gave a new player that needed help 180 plat the other day, and you don't see many people do that these days. COME ON EQ2 COMMUNITY, PULL YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR PROVERBIAL BACKSIDE!
@TheSalazara Honestly? That's why I am looking forward to EQ2X. I will still have my subscription account but I just keep thinking of all the new people playing X who have no clue and wanting to group for zones/instances/raid zones that no one bothers with anymore in live. Just the other day I mentioned an epic contested mob was up in Thundering Steppes and I was told to use my 90, chrono and solo him, about 10 min later the same person posted he killed him. So no lowbie got in on it. Sad
See this is why I am afriad to come back. I have been playing EQ2X (free for the moment) and have to say it is fun again except still no one is grouping. I met some people who tranfered their chars over from live & they wont even speak to you let alone help. I would love to play again, just don't know if it will be worth it. I don't want to play an MMO alone, that is not the point seems now-a-days that is how most MMOs are being played.....solo, Wish I had a group!
@ParamedicSamier I have a guild on EQ2X called Frostfang Foreigners, we have several vets, returning players and newbies, while we don't constantly group together we do have a weekly deal where we get together and someone is always helping out.. LOL and yup I have seen the way Immortalis and Mortalis claim they help newbies etc..THEY DON"T!

It's not the player base, it's the many 5yr vets who feel that the game is now solo until max level, then it becomes an issue where new players are taught to be the same way. It's a cycle when you have smartasses telling newbies that they suck because they want a group for SH etc. At least it's more often than not like that on Blackburrow
@modepc in the 3yrs on BB I have seen it happen countless times and can honestly say there are at least 3 people still playing because I intervened when people started with this attitude toward them. It HAS gotten better since SF expansion but it's still there. =(
@angelique715 Your so correct, and it sucks. I'm personally from Nagafen, have been since it's launch. I can tell ya, these new twinks with the AA sliders couldn't hold a candle in the dark to some of the veteran PvPers on their best day. Everquest II is getting dumbed down. The new transport system (That weird globe thing), makes travelling easy. Seriously, bell hopping wasn't that hard! Then that AA slider removed all need to quest at all. If this next expansion sucks, I'll be leaving sadly :(
@angelique715 The older players were in there during the beginning, before everything was so rigid and "This is how you do this, and this is how you do that". As a result they learned to function as a group and team, which is something you don't see anymore. I roll with a guild of all veteran players these days, and we almost always win at battlegrounds(As gay as those are) simply because we learned to work together, instead of glory wh**es and people going for kills instead of winning as a team
@TheSalazara but that's the thing. You can't get people to learn to work together when the vets refuse to help a newbie for the most basic things. I mean really? Someone will ask "where can I sell the relic's in Qeynos" 99% of the time the response is "look it up" or someone will ask for help with like Stormhold. New player first toon can't solo because well..their new. Reply "do it yourself and if you can't your a dumbass"
tbh the game looks pretty stiff. combat felt pretty awkward as in the range of auto attacking felt odd and each fight always started with trying to actualy attack the thing i wanna kill feeling dodgey. eq2 has promise but it doesnt leave me feeling excited about getting home from work to play it. maybe my mmo days are over as i cant find anything i like nowadays. id love to know what eq2 has to offer me to keep me playing but so far im not impressed!

Im currently playing EQ 1 but EQ 2 looks so amazing i think im going to get it. the graphics beat the shit outa even World of Warcraft by the looks of it
EQ2 is just a great game. It's never to late to start the game so don't worry about that. The only problem is it takes the community some time to warm up to you. Best advice I can give, start on pve server and stick with your char. Don't keep rerolling.
This game has everything that WoW has but better. The graphics are better, the questing is better, the gameplay is more realistic. Who wouldn't want to play EQ2.
@modepc I just bought the expansion and waiting for it to ship (and first time playing the game other than trial) and I'm wondering i the SM3.0 is out yet too or not 1 month later. Not that graphics really matter but the first thing I do in every game is max everything and look at the beautiful zones, which EQ2 has a lot of.

Wow. Its about time someone posted a video of how this game -really- looks, and to think all this time I believed EQ2 was a game stuck in the stone age. Thinking about trying it again, on a i7 920/gtx285 now so this should np for me to run. Thanks for the insight into how the game truly looks like! :D
Now i dont approve of the nvidia card but to each their own. With 4 gigs of ram youll be able to run the game at full graphics. And honestly it looks much better than this video will lead you to beleive. The only HD i can notice in this is it brings out the colors alot more BUT! If that isnt enough....in february theyre releasing a new expansion and upgrading from shader 1.0 to shader 3.0 performance will go up as well as graphics looking almost real!

EQ2 is totally better then WoW. I promise to you on this. I played EQ, EQ2, and WoW. In my opinion EQ is better in concept, but EQ2 is better graphically. WoW I hated because it was far too easy.
WoW is very easy if you want to compare it to EQ2. Weve had the top raiders from WoW come over onto everquest and they die everytime. Its simple fact wow is popular because its easy and appeals to younger people because there is less of a challenge.Its graphics are so low it can also run on any system. Even with an onboard video card. Whereas eq2 takes a lil work and fine tuning to run right.

Well actually the original everquest was around before ether so these guys are veterans in this field a lot more than those blizzard morons. Not to mention I have followed both over the years and EQ2 has always has lots of stuff before WoW. It's just a better game over all. Only thing it lacks is good PvP... but i'll stick to DAoC or Quake 2 for that. You're not very smart. :P
Nice to see a HD EQ2 video on here with gfx set to quality. The customizable UI in EQ and the vast amount of settings options let you play it on any system, and high spec systems can achieve almost TES:Oblivion gfx standards. An achievement in itself for a MMO.
I enjoyed WoW for the short time I played it, but have been playing EQ since 2000 so the nostalgia is an added bonus to me in EQ2 (Have to love those giggling skellies when they cast). I hope the movie is better than the DnD movie.

Actually a couple months ago there were still a handful of servers that hit medium load, with a couple that hit heavy load. The game is actually still fairly populated, and there must still be a decent amount of subscribers considering the game is going on its sixth expansion pack.
Okay, I've played WoW for 4-5 years, and I've gotta say, everquest is still the most favorite for me. Interesting quests that keep you addicted, each quest is a key in the storyline (for me), Graphics mean nothing to me, as long as it has a good gameplay, im hooked. Friendly and helpful players are 100X better than WoW's players. (And by that I mean kids who are 6-12). This is all coming from a fourteen year old. Im not saying WoW is gay, but, Everquest is better, on rating (mine) and players.

How solo-friendly is this? I just need a game where I can pop in and out, I'm quite busy in RL. I like grouping but I dislike having to leave the group in the middle of a raid / dungeon.
You can solo all the way up if you want. Then group up for a few group quests once in a while. There are several starting areas. Probably timorous deep has the best solo progression. The community is great. It is quite a bit more adult, than a certain other game. You might want to get into a casual guild that raids, but does not have a hardcore attendance policy. Depends on the class you play. Like most other RPG's, some classes are better at soloing than others. Most of the game is soloable now, and the newer zones are story driven similarly to WoW, however, at least 3 months ago, the older zones still had quests scattered all over the place. Whether they've redone those now too, I'm not sure.
Just play the game that you want to, when you want to. No big deal.. Nobodies opinion is going to change by telling them "TEH GRAFFIKS N EVARKEST POON!" Just deal with the fat that someone likes a different game then you.
Great video, this game owns WoW. WoW is kool but is geared to a much less mature audience. Eq2 is where the big people some to adventure and have fun. EQ2 4 LIFE.
Everquest 2 is a great game, check out my videos under the name of zonker61 to see more actual play. A new expansion is coming in the first quarter of 2010, just a few months away. Be sure to give the free 2 week trial a try to make sure your PC can handle this game. If you have the right hardware you will see great quality. EQ2 has rich quality to show if you have the right PC, unlike some games that won't look much better even with a better PC.

Nrixeen1... i've played @ WoW for quite along time. and i would have to say, it gets boring very fast. Blizzard has continued to ruin WoW every expansion, the graphics are juivenile. The audience in WoW is nothing but rude and immature.. I would have to say that if your tired of the simple scenery of WoW and its rude obnoxious players, your better off playing EQ2 with sophisticated graphics and a more mature and helpful audience.
I use Fraps. I record in 1920x1080. I use sony vegas pro 8 or Windows Live Movie maker, then new one. With that one you have preset so you can convert to 720p for youtube. Only problem is with WMV the sound seems to be low.

Wow. Its about time someone posted a video of how this game -really- looks, and to think all this time I believed EQ2 was a game stuck in the stone age. Now i dont approve of the nvidia card but to each their own. With 4 gigs of ram youll be able to run the game at full graphics. And honestly it looks much better than this video will lead you to beleive. The only HD i can notice in this is it brings out the colors alot more BUT! If that isnt enough....in february theyre releasing a new expansion and upgrading from shader 1.0 to shader 3.0 performance will go up as well as graphics looking almost real!

EQ2 is totally better then WoW. I promise to you on this. I played EQ, EQ2, and WoW. In my opinion EQ is better in concept, but EQ2 is better graphically. WoW I hated because it was far too easy.

WoW is very easy if you want to compare it to EQ2. Weve had the top raiders from WoW come over onto everquest and they die everytime. Its simple fact wow is popular because its easy and appeals to younger people because there is less of a challenge.Its graphics are so low it can also run on any system. Even with an onboard video card. Whereas eq2 takes a lil work and fine tuning to run right.

Well actually the original everquest was around before ether so these guys are veterans in this field a lot more than those blizzard morons. Not to mention I have followed both over the years and EQ2 has always has lots of stuff before WoW. It's just a better game over all. Only thing it lacks is good PvP... but i'll stick to DAoC or Quake 2 for that. You're not very smart. :P

Nice to see a HD EQ2 video on here with gfx set to quality. The customizable UI in EQ and the vast amount of settings options let you play it on any system, and high spec systems can achieve almost TES:Oblivion gfx standards. An achievement in itself for a MMO.
I enjoyed WoW for the short time I played it, but have been playing EQ since 2000 so the nostalgia is an added bonus to me in EQ2 (Have to love those giggling skellies when they cast). I hope the movie is better than the DnD movie.

Actually a couple months ago there were still a handful of servers that hit medium load, with a couple that hit heavy load. The game is actually still fairly populated, and there must still be a decent amount of subscribers considering the game is going on its sixth expansion pack.

Okay, I've played WoW for 4-5 years, and I've gotta say, everquest is still the most favorite for me. Interesting quests that keep you addicted, each quest is a key in the storyline (for me), Graphics mean nothing to me, as long as it has a good gameplay, im hooked. Friendly and helpful players are 100X better than WoW's players. (And by that I mean kids who are 6-12). This is all coming from a fourteen year old. Im not saying WoW is gay, but, Everquest is better, on rating (mine) and players.

How solo-friendly is this? I just need a game where I can pop in and out, I'm quite busy in RL. I like grouping but I dislike having to leave the group in the middle of a raid / dungeon.

You can solo all the way up if you want. Then group up for a few group quests once in a while. There are several starting areas. Probably timorous deep has the best solo progression. The community is great. It is quite a bit more adult, than a certain other game. You might want to get into a casual guild that raids, but does not have a hardcore attendance policy. Depends on the class you play. Like most other RPG's, some classes are better at soloing than others. Most of the game is soloable now, and the newer zones are story driven similarly to WoW, however, at least 3 months ago, the older zones still had quests scattered all over the place. Whether they've redone those now too, I'm not sure.

Everquest 2 is a great game, check out my videos under the name of zonker61 to see more actual play. A new expansion is coming in the first quarter of 2010, just a few months away. Be sure to give the free 2 week trial a try to make sure your PC can handle this game. If you have the right hardware you will see great quality. EQ2 has rich quality to show if you have the right PC, unlike some games that won't look much better even with a better PC.

Nrixeen1... i've played @ WoW for quite along time. and i would have to say, it gets boring very fast. Blizzard has continued to ruin WoW every expansion, the graphics are juivenile. The audience in WoW is nothing but rude and immature.. I would have to say that if your tired of the simple scenery of WoW and its rude obnoxious players, your better off playing EQ2 with sophisticated graphics and a more mature and helpful audience.

I use Fraps. I record in 1920x1080. I use sony vegas pro 8 or Windows Live Movie maker, then new one. With that one you have preset so you can convert to 720p for youtube. Only problem is with WMV the sound seems to be low.
