@Tekilla7from7Rukahs AFAIK EVGA Precision only works on EVGA GPUs unless they made it compatible with any brand now like MSI Afterburner (essentially based on the same program). Anyway check what temperature your GPU is at when running games, laptops tend to run hotter because of the smaller space and the smaller fan so you might need to move that from AUTO to a manual fan speed that can cool sufficiently when you play.
@akro187 Maximum temperatures I achieved was 88C with that OC at 1.10V and that is still 17C away from the GF110 ceiling of 105C so it is still technically safe. It more about whether you are comfortable with the fan noise produced at that temperature.
@akro187 The MSI is probably the best 448 imo. 900/19004200 is easily done for 24/7 gaming. I run mine at 950/1900/4400 @ roughly 60-62c at 50-55% fan speed. Plays any game out.
@Spliffstar26 Here is why i went with the Classified... 1. EVGA warranty. Ive been buying EVGA since 2004... I dont plan on ever buying any other brand. They also offer a step up program. You can trade in your old card when the 600's come out, spend Less to upgrade. 2. I find that the classified looks better. :) 3. Between the MSI and EVGA there isnt a huge difference in performance.
@andrefrbk Agree on the step-up i have used Many EVGA cards. I wanted the best 448 with air cooling and overclocking to hold me out until Kepler arrives & the MSI is the best, has the best components, runs cooler, dual bios, Triple over voltage for overclocking, many MSI 448's reaches 1GHZ + core. non of the other 448's have been seen to do it. You can't go wrong with the EVGA Classy though. Great cards for the money, even at stock
@andrefrbk lol who told you that? they both support OpenGL 4.2. They are the same chip, just a different PCB, coolers & components. The step-up program lasts for 90 days so its pointless for me. no point in upgrading to a 580 as the 448 when overclocked beats the reference 580. & Kepler will not be out in 90 days from when i brought this card 5th dec 2011. The MSI top line is built for speed & power & that's what i wanted. The EVGA cooler light is nice but the cooler itself looks meh
I have 2 of these cards and the DS cooler on these cards does not allow you to put them in SLI right next to each other you need at least 3 space pci-e clearance for SLI. The cooler bulges out past the usual dual slot area and the heat was way to high because of the cooler design pulling the heat from the lower card. I could not use them on my Asus Rampage Gene MATX. Just a head up for people with PCI-E Spacing limitations.
This card is not recommended for SLI unless you have sufficient space between the cards, a very well ventilated case, or water cooling. Since the card does not have the standard rear exhaust the cards (in SLI) draw a lot of heat from each other.
@Tekilla7from7Rukahs Overclocking would probably not fix crashing issues. I would start by making sure your drivers are updated. Second, make sure your temperatures are good if you are able to play at all. Start out will all games on low settings with your laptop's native resolution, and go from there.
@Christusolus I was tempted to wait for the 6 series and Ivy Bridge at first.. But Nvidia's mid-range 6 series won't be out until at least summer, and the high ends toward the end of the year. If those are anything like Fermi's late first release (GTX 480/470/465), I won't have any regrets buying this card.
@VarashTRA Hi, even my MSI Hawk GTX560Ti ( not 448 ) @ 950 mhz core kills the HD6950 and it's very very close to GTX570 stock performance. So would say better pick a GTX570 or GTX580.., or better, wait for the HD7000 series.
thanks for the help.

@HiTechLegion Problem is that on laptops, you maybe cant change fan speed cause its controlled by BIOS.

do you leave it at this OC permanently? Because I'm looking to OC this card and just LEAVE it at that OC.

@HiTechLegion Incorrect. The thermal ceiling for the GF110 is 95-97c the 105c ceiling is for the GF100.

I have three EVGA's coming for 3 way SLI. I can't wait, come-on UPS.
jeffreylgoatley 3 months ago
@jeffreylgoatley If they're 3 classifieds, they may not fit in order to allow proper cooling due to the non-reference fan design.
