this is not antilag you dumb ass, its just back firing, antilag is when you hold the gas down the whole way to the floor and it works as a rev limiter while holding the boost so you dont get turbo lag off the line
@twistedreeds Actually, this is real anti-lag. The "anti-lag" you're talking about is for drag racing and is only a timing lock coupled with a little enrichment. The actual anti-lag like this was developed for rally and road race use to eliminate lag from lifting the throttle to decel, shift, etc.
I take it you're unfamiliar with ALS, aka Anti-Lag System?
ALS is not 'backfiring', ALS is when you're ECM intentionally shoots unburnt fuel into the cylander head on the exhaust stage of combustion. From there, the unburn fuel is ignited by the extreme temperature of the exhaust manifolds, generating force similar to that of the engine reving. This aids the turbo by allowing the turbo to spool early, eliminating the lag normally associated with turbos setups.
That's interesting. I drive a saturn ion not an evo and was only joking. My car pops just like this when i rev too, but that is good to know about the evos and no im not familiar with them since i do not own one just started learning about them a few months ago but learnin about how to get power out of them not all the ins and outs yet.
Early Evos had an ECM from Mitsu which already supported ALS, but shipped disabled. ALS causes a lot of additional wear on your exhaust manifold and downpipe, requiring them to be replaced often.
Remember kids, "It's better to thought a fool that be be proven one."
no antilag..... i think what that software does is launch control.... put it in first, holdin clutch in, floor it, it should limit it. but evo ix's already have that... hmmmm what does that software he has do then??
Hmmm weird, I didn't hear any anti-lag engagement when you let off the throttle. It must be not working properly or the anti-lag wasn't aggressive at all. How much boost it can retain when the throttle is shut?
very nice sound indeed!! im hoping 2 get a evo 6 im banned at the moment :(
luvin the comment a whil back where sum fool says his integra will beat your evo!! wot a fuckin fool my little sisters moped has more tourqe than v-tec engines haha. unless its modifed then it will jus tourqe steer in 2 a tree if u can get traction with the fwd shit!!
lol, There are plenty of DC2s or DC5s that would beat an evo!! And there are lots of ways to reduce tourqe steer if not get rid of it all together! Ford have a new front wheel drive system that they will bet can put power down better than the four wheel drive system of an evo or impreza
You know, the reason I asked Deeno, Ive seen several non US spec manifolds with brass tubing run into them...a shop owner years ago informed me that these were added to dump extra fuel into the manifold to aid the anti lag. I thought that was crazy, and the tubes pointed out were emissions related. Im more curious about how it works, if thats even your vehicle. Thanks
Sorry mate, I missed your first comment.. Anyway, as far as I know the SAS (Secondary air system) is meant to be used to lower emissions, but, it can be munipulated to add air into the manifold along with some unburnt fuel via retarded timing (I think?) and obviously with the heat in the manifold it will pop and bang, the set-up on this video is very, very mild as I want my turbo to last!! Look at this..
deeno, don't rise to all the "that aint anti-lag" comments. There has been confusion over antilag for years. You have it, other belive it to be a flame kit, some just a big exhaust. Most English tuners know their antilag most Americans have not got a clue as als was a rally thing and they never had it.
Jesus Deeno...youtube does have some majorly thick people on here. I like how they bang on with lots of clever info even though you have stated it's not real anti lag, just a few pops and bangs recorded on a mobile. Proper divs.
twat faced americans ehh? well guess what u stupid fag i mother doesnt love you, i should i say ya mum doent luv ya no more HAHA oh and my integra will spank that non flamin POS
Deeno, does your IX have a factory Anti Lag system installed? Im in the US, we never had Evo's with Anti-Lag but have access to EcuTek software. Being fairly unfamiliar with the whole setup, how well does it work for you?
Sorry to dissapoint you, but if you have read some comments on here you will understand!! We've had the usual twat-face Americans and there google Copy & Pastes on ;)
you people dont even understand the concept of "antilag" or two step launch control. 2step retards the timing so much that on when cylinder ignites, the exaust valves are still open and this makes the full force of the cylinder ignition go thru the downpipe and makes the turbo spool up. and yes it is bad for your car no matter how good you build your motor. sure you can have a great turbo that will put up with tons of launches before it gets worn down and needs a new turbine.
2 steps cut spark at a set rpm to allow the fuel to just enter the exhaust, anti lag tuning retards timing. its just called a 2 step because you can set 2 rev limits, i.e. 4500rpm when hand brake engaged, 8000rpm otherwise like my car is set up using a Bee*r 2 step. anti lag is for racing/rally cars to keep boost at low rpm and during shifting is all.
anti lag, is designed to keep the turbo at a state of spool, so when u lift off the accelerator you have no lag, yes there are verious forms of anti lag, some mild to prolong the life of the turbo and others very harsh to which rally cars use, as regards to the exhust system, its there to vent the flow of exhust gasses so unless its still got its cats in place i doubt its very harmful.
Mate, I know this isn't actually Anti-lag, you would of known if you had bothered to read my comments!! Its just pops and bangs from using the SAS to introduce air into the manifold along with some fuel. It also doesn't have any real launch control, just a secondary rev limiter set to 5700rpm but does build about 0.5-0.7 bar of boost when stationary.
As long you are keeping the turbo spooled at idle and after you left of your foot from the accelerator its anti lag, Antilag doesn't have to mean 1 bar of boost, there is some that are less then that.
gotta agree 100% with you, just got mine mapped today, put mild lag on a few weeks ago, give it 5% of timing or something and you get the pops and bangs, also got launch control mapped in, same deal, i sit on 5500 , the boost raises to .05 bar and then drop the clutch!! happy days!!
anti-lag is what makes the turbo work as of 0 RPM instead of 3000 RPM..so it removes all the turbo lag..hence Anti-Lag..mainly used for rally cars. In other words, it is also called Bang-Bang because of the sound it makes. To hear a proper one browse for Motec Anti-Lag.
timing is retarted when you're not pressing the pedal. the fuel usually burns in the header. the resulting explosions keep the turbo spooled. very harmful to your exhaust system.
And can I just say (Again) This is an extremely mild set-up!! I didn't want a fucked turbo just a bit more noise!!! It I wanted more from it you just increase the amount of Air & fuel going into the Manifold! But I didn't want that!!!!!!!!
Thats why I've put Ecutek Anti Lag as the title you cunt! Did I put 'Look at my cool new proper Anti lag install bruv, wicked init' I put this on here so people could see what its like with out having to install a standalone ECU which £1500+ for a cheap one - What did this cost er... Nothing! It just uses the SAS to mix fresh air into the manifold along with some unburnt fuel and hey a few little pops and bangs!
This is the mildest you can get with the Ecutek, it can be made a hell of a lot more aggressive. When stationary its hard to get bangs but on the move when de-throttling it does bang quite loud!!
P.s. It was recorded using a Mobile phone so the sound quality is pance!
anti-lag is un burn fuel exploding if you will right next to the turbo, hence the big bangs (this as stated is a mild setup hence not much bangs) makes the turbo spool a LOT quicker but puts the rest of your engine and exhaust thru hell lol
