This is absolutely dreadful. Anita is singing the low alto line in the ensemble. Dancing is mediocre, at best. Would not have paid money to see this production.

@pyro999maniac Actually, the ORIGINAL on Broadway, if I remember correctly, was done all girls, like this. The boy/girl pairing was for the movie. There's a version with Debbie Allen that shames this immensely, and you'll notice they took steps from it to make this.

I think it's just awkward without shoes on, as weird as it may sound, I think the heels that are normally used during this song just add to the overall effect of the song.

This song is actually about the struggle the puertoricans had in the 60's (in the US) when few people understood that they too are americans and treated them like foreigners when they are actually "natives". (They are born to their land which belongs to the US.) They and the native americans share that characteristic. However the lack of knowledge and education (on both parts) gave way to a sad situation that only till recently was understood. A song that represents US's past and future.

I think everyone's being rather harsh. I mean, could any of US pull this off? I think not. No one is pointing out anything they did right, and there were lots of things about this production I thought they did well. :) Lay off everybody! I mean, it was good.

@2009hpfan yeah... I guess this is way too hard to perform for UK citizens...They don't have el sabor latino... the accent was awful and the dancing pues bueno no se sintió en lo absoluto el calor latino... I agree with you... The version of broadway is better.

Anita's accent is cack, and it took a while for the dancing to get into gear but I rather liked the choreography actually once it got into itself.
