  • The title is Blue Serge, not Blue Surge. Serge is a fabric often used in military uniforms. The song, credited to Ellington's son Mercer, was first recorded in February 1941, some months before the U.S. entered the Second World War, which had been under way already since September 1939.

  • No offense but who and where is New World? And also sure it might have been a state record but Garfeild and Roosevelt have taken national awards 1st 2nd or vise versa for like 30 years!
