@john0811 well it would really come down to technique.. which.... kilpatrick wrote the book on.. so i dunno.. hahaha i would love to see them both play together :)
Very good. Bits of Top Secret Drum corps 2006 and a bit from Simon Grant there aswel on the backsticking flams. Great drummer though very good i liked :)
@lowfiwhiteguy they are two entirely different disciplines...its like comparing a cellist to a bass guitar player... a kit player will take those rudimential skills learned early in their career and transfer them to two surfaces while playing with both feet, and a snare player will develop them into something entirely different, neither can be described as better, or as you like to put it, harder, than the other
Drum kits would be boring for him...he is actually pretty good on a kit...but his discipline is soooooo much better than most kit drumming...well, at least from a technical point of view anyway.
...ok...But, a drumkit wouldn't be more boring..it'd be the opposite. There'd be more for him to do. Sure he'd probably prefer the snare, but he'd probably be pretty good on a kit too, so I still want to see him on a kit...nice try tho
I must emphasise that I personally don't think kit drumming is boring...a top kit drummer is awesome to watch and listen to...it is just that I think that this discipline is alot more technical (in its purest form)...this is just him playing around with more simpler type rudiments for show...you can't play the real technical stuff that he does on a kit...that's my point..but yes, I concede kit can be more fun to play!
Mate, check out a site call "Gusweb" dot org"...you'll find it..it shows this guy and a number of other top exponents competing for the world solos titles - that is pretty much as technical as it gets...with execution that in my opinion is peerless in the drumming world...just not mainstream and cool - so unfortunately will never get much mainstream attention.
I know you probably won't believe this but anyway - it's not Eric J Ward - it's Eric F Ward and the F stands for Francis - how do i know this? Well, he's my uncle. Cheers
What? Do you know who this bloke has played for and with? By the way they are not "top" and they are not "secret" very basic rudiments played on soft drum skins and not even clean. Top Secret my arse...
Eric is the fastest player but Jim is more controlled both are legends in there own right!!!!

this guy is amazing, but its not all about flips. the twirls he kept doing were getting annoying even though they are awsome.

highly technical rudimental drumming on the snare makes me 163.33 times harder than skills on a kit.

@egdoh
I didn't say one was better than the other. I said I personally liked snare more.

@lowfiwhiteguy to quote yourself "highly technical rudimental drumming on the snare makes me 163.33 times harder than skills on a kit."

not bad, but times him by 30 and you've got the Basel 'Top Secret' Drummers who are way and above any drummers i've ever seen
Brodrick32 2 years ago
@Brodrick32 ummmm no. Top Secret is amazing but Eric could play circles around Top Secret Drummers.

He just judged us this past weekend and we placed first in drumming. We are stoked to win with such a prestigeous judge as Eric.

Eric was part of the great Alex Duthart drum corps back in the 80's. Fantastic! He was the king of pipe band drumming.
