With Gays now allowed officially the difference is that it will encourage more Gays and the enemy perception of the US Army being feared by many may be affected. With Gays now allowed officially the difference is that it will encourage more Gays and the enemy perception of the US Army being feared by many may be affected. I like how we're using archaic examples of poor military personnel to back up feelings about the repeal of DADT and provide piss-poor arguments against the repeal. Caligula was from AD 12 - AD 41 and Montgomery was from 1887 - 1976.
Also, there have been many homosexuals serving in the military, the repeal just lets them be open about it. These people are still putting their lives on the line to protect their country.

Just as many straight men as gay men are incapable of picking up a rifle and laying down their lives for their country, but I don't see you making a video against straight metrosexual types. Gay men have HAD to fight their whole lives...just to EXIST in a normal life, so I think they can serve in the military just fine. By the way, if you're going to bash, at least learn how to spell.

@JessicaRedSkye There were no proof of any Gay in Philips Army. The notion of the time is for "true men with a life of noble deeds" to be in the Army, except the experimental Thebes of course.
If those gays understood their strength then they know an army of 300 would manuever against a larger enemy force, but they don't have what it takes. Most of Alexanders Army were smaller when they defeated bigger armies as they advance to India.

His madness started only after he met a young handsome stage actor that he so admired. When their gay relations started Caligula got sick and after that he became irrational, brutal and a pervert. At some point he had the senators undressed and paraded in the senate. Rome was spiraling down. He was assasinated to save Rome from further decadence.

@Johnydrumbola Although Caligula is described as a noble and moderate ruler during the first two years of his rule he is later called cruel, and extravagant, presenting him as an insane tyrant. I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure his mental instability, almost unlimited power and 'god-complex' are what caused his men to assassinate him.

@scorand Well some people says He is very private and has a wife and kid in the sercret. But some believed that he is Gay.No date or association with women. He is very close to an Aid who is also a military officer who always in his side in all the wars. That officer is partly responsible for the bad plan in "Bridge too far". During his early days he was noted as a wierd kid who quarrel a lot. Maybe he isn't gay but some officers believe him to be.

Also, "General Caligula", do you mean the Emperor Caligula the one who used to fuck anything including his sister? I think the empire didn't collapse until well after his death. In fact from the reigns of Augustus through to Nero the period was known as the Pax Romana, or Roman Peace. Research on it.

Gay and lesbian men and women serving in the military should be honored to the highest degree for risking their lives for their country, while at the same time are degraded and insulted by the very country they serve. Anyone that has anything negative to say about our gay and lesbian military personnel should be more than just ashamed, they should be made example of as the anti-american they are!

@christopherse2 Frankly I have no opinion about lesbians and I don't care about them. I speak from experience, feminine males, has no business in the front lines.
If any Gay man performs a heroic maneuver I have no objection for them to be honored like real men. But mention one occasion when they amounted to something like that. Sure they got medals for getting wounded while pooping on the sand. But I would rather have a dog watching my back than someone with an unstable mindset.
