@adrius wow thx for the frp news. heard rumors but never got a confirmation on it. how do you think this game stacks up the the other super hero games, dc universe online and champions online? currently play dcuo and thinking about adding another super powered mmo (or two =P) to my game list
@silvarknite7 DCUO is HALF of a very good game. Coming from CoH, it's a bit infuriating. CoH beats it hands down. It's graphics pale compared to DCUO, but it has just.. way the hell more of everything, and a whole lot that DCUO just doesn't have. It's sad really, since I love DC. CO is a fun game. I like it a lot but CoH is mechanically a better game. CO is a lot more campy, while CoH takes itself dead serious. It's less a comic book game, and more a modern world with metahuman wars (space).
@adrius Champs...Champs is more flash than anything. It's all about flashy powersets honestly. City of heroes is machinically better like you said. It's far more balanced than champs. Thing I found funny though, assault rifle on COH is just like any other powerset. Assault rifle on Champs is EXTREMELY overpowered. A friend and I played the game for a month, we were complete noobs to it yet he owned just about everyone he came across with that set.
@ShurikenG there is no assault rifle in champs. There's munitions, which is "pull any weapon I can think of out of my ass". So far, I've been sorely let down by ALL THREE superhero MMOs when it comes to AR. In CoH, it's a frankengun, in CO, it's one power amongst many in Munitions, in DCUO, it turns into a Grenade Launcher once you get that power. The only time it's been done right is the Wolf Spider, which is just bullets and grenades.
@adrius I completely agree. Still, the thing I hate about the forums for City of heroes, you suggest changes to a power set and people freak out. Assault rifle is not a true Assault rifle. They need to either change the name and make a hole new set, or at least update the set's animations. I mean, what I don't get is, Beam rifle is just plain shooting. Have you seen it? It's a charged up shot here or there but just plain shooting. Why is it that they can do that with all the other gun sets --

@silvarknite7 (continued) going on. It's gritty, it takes itself seriously, there's SO MUCH MORE diversity of gameplay than DCUO. Like, my videos barely scratch the surface of what can happen in this game, it isn't even a fair representation. I suggest picking it up, it's an amazingly fun game.
@Djinne98 Commentaries are boring. A lot of this usually has to do with the voices. 95% of the time, a guy making a comment on a video has a very unsexy voice, oftentimes hard to even listen to.
First, I'm glad to see that it's possible to have a good arachnos soldier that doesn't take any branched powers. I preferred the look of the wolf spider to the other two, so that's given me a reason to give that archetype a shot.
Secondly, this makes me feel like putting up videos of my characters in battle. Will have to give that a try when I resubscribe.

@charango96 You can do both actually. Once you update your flying you can fly extremely fast and high. You can also do other things like run really fast and all that. It's a great game.
@Twismyer Yes, certain classes can. Those two spider bots following me around in the first part are pets, as well as a couple of things in the second part (the plants, the tornado).
Most classes get pets which are uncontrolled minions who follow you around doing their thing automatically (both of the examples above are this type).
Masterminds get minions however, which are fully controlled entities which you have to command, and they can have up to 6.
@Twismyer When I get a new card in a couple months, yes :) I can run them now, just not well enough to make videos. Recording footage taxes the system. These files may be shrank down to less than 100 MB, but when recorded, they come out in the area of several gigs.. meaning it's recording a LOT of information. Really cuts the FPS down heavily. I am planning on getting a new card after I finish fixing up my house. then, yes, I plan on making new videos thereafter.
I tried the trial and i still have questions, is there a max lvl? and are there things that bring players together other then the quests.... like something that compares to a raid in WoW
There are Task Forces/Strike Forces which are strings of missions that lock you into the same team and have big rewards at the end and require a team. check my other videos I have at least one video of people doing a Task Force together.
There are also two raids, the Hamidon Raid and the Rikti Mothership Raid. This game IS hurting for raid like material, but the devs don't like adding something that is silly and generic (not since Hamidon anyways).
The Mothership raid is hella unique and interesting.
Anyways they know they are sore for some more end game style raid stuff stuff (there are a few really unique and cool end game task forces, will say that, just not classic raids), and the upcoming expansion is supposed to add some stuff to remedy that :)
The game has some serious replay value though. I'm sure you've noticed by now that very very few characters play anything alike.
@gorrilazrock ya and a good example is the spartan type place strike force. (cant remember name) that gives you clothes to make you look like a spartan warrior. its very good game i suggest you play it

@CmotDribbler Not a crab. Huntsman. that is, Wolf Spider with Bane utility powers. Thing about this.. SoA Assault +15% Damage, Leadership Assault +15% Damage. Take both, and you have an always on +30% damage bonus. Then add the small, but useful Pool Maneuvers on top of SoA Maneuvers, fully slotted for set bonuses.. and suddenly.. you have a pretty high damage and defense bonus, while pumping out huge AOE. And your entire team gets the bonus.. it's pure badass.
It isn't BAD, but why play on a server that is less populated when the point of an MMO is to be around tons of people? :p Most servers are far from dead. Most.
uhm congratulations... you just about described every RPG known to man...
and WoW and this came out in the same year just some fyi
Dragon Age isn't an MMO and is really not like WoW... but you can move with the WASD controls.. level up... talent build... get "professions" work in a party....
don't get me wrong WoW is a great game... but you got to be a little bit more specific when you are going to compare games...
It makes WoW look cheap and contrived. You can actually have a sense of customization and individuality. To be uber, you don't have to look like a clone of all the other uber people. There are millions upon millions of costume combinations.
There are 12 Archetypes (classes), and each AT has a number of primary and secondary powers. There are a total of 688 possible combinations, all playing very different, and none are gimp.
This game is very noob friendly with a good community.
Additionally, this game is very solo-play friendly, not to say there isn't a lot of teaming.
There are numerous difficulty options to actually change how hard the game is for you, and the number and levels of enemies scale to your team, so things are never too hard unless you do it on purpose.
There are always teams at all levels of play.
If you play, play on Freedom or Virtue, they are the most populated servers.
there's a lot to be said, and not enough room to say it. Try it out. :)

Neither. Has 3 Bane Powers (Armor, Surveillance, and Build Up), but is built as a Wolf Spider. No, it isn't gimp, I think that's pretty clear in this video. It's damned hardcore. I have a guide on the official forums.
Yes, it's an MMO. Play on Virtue or Freedom, the communities are pretty large. Very cool, action oriented, solo friendly game, but with some cool team content, and an expansion on the way.
I dunno what my favorite is. This is a game that encourages you to make alts. I have over 30 characters, 15 or so that I play with some regularity.
Right now I am really enjoying my Stalker (not shown here).
As for leveling speed. I've seen people play 5 years and never get a level 50 (max) and some play a few months and have several. Casual gaming, mostly soloing, it might take a week or two to hit 30.
This game is not about hitting the m,ax level though, it's about the gameplay.
truely casual, as a new player to the game, it could take a month or three. As an experianced player, it will take far less. Note: CoX is not max level (50) oriented. The majority of the content to experience is sub-50.
The Video show some good footage of what you can experience, but there is sooo much more.
It is that good yes. You CAN make yourself look like that but because of copyright issues, you'll just have your name turned into something like "Generic 000 736 592 845". I would just enjoy the creator for what it is. It's a powerful creative tool and you can come up with your own stuff that can be even better.

No it doesn't. Champions online is slower and is more like a cheap ripoff console game that is already being nerfed to hell and back. CoH has 5 times as much content and customizability.

Dude you don't even know. This game is huge. Weapon and power customization, actual crafted loot (enhancement sets), tons more costume pieces, City of Heroes and City of Villains comes together now, a new expansion is on the way... This game has just so much added to it and so much on the way.
well so far i tried out champions and i ave played city of heros...i would say champions is a bit more dull....COH is much better cause almost everything is balanced, compared to champions where noting really is, but then again champions has been only been out for a few weeks now
Just picked this game up two days ago. Other than some lag issues on the east coast servers, it has been a blast. Your videos do a great job showing how much fun the game can be. Now, only if I could play as well as you, I may start to progress through the game a bit :P
Click on "Powers" on your tray. Then at the top of the powers window click on "Combat Attributes". You can then right click on anything in there and choose to "Monitor" it, which will put it in that little window.
if you did everything correctly u should be able to double click on it, when it loads up at the bottom right corner hit next, then hit agree which will be in the same spot and wait for the game to load and a box appears where u put ur username and password

@darkman699 Yes but the Incarnate system offers alternate progression to level 50s, making the much more powerful, and introduced 12-24 person raids.
Lots of people play, it's about to go F2P, so even more will be playing.

how much is this game per month ? how does it compare to wow? how easy is it to learn and get into?

$15 a month.
It makes WoW look cheap and contrived. You can actually have a sense of customization and individuality. To be uber, you don't have to look like a clone of all the other uber people. There are millions upon millions of costume combinations.
There are 12 Archetypes (classes), and each AT has a number of primary and secondary powers. There are a total of 688 possible combinations, all playing very different, and none are gimp.
This game is very noob friendly with a good community.

Additionally, this game is very solo-play friendly, not to say there isn't a lot of teaming.
There are numerous difficulty options to actually change how hard the game is for you, and the number and levels of enemies scale to your team, so things are never too hard unless you do it on purpose.
There are always teams at all levels of play.
If you play, play on Freedom or Virtue, they are the most populated servers.
there's a lot to be said, and not enough room to say it. Try it out. :)

im accualy redownloading this game right now cant wait to start playing. i stoped a while back. had a 50 blaster 33 peace bringer and some other high lvls i cant really remember but i left it for world of warcraft which now that i have relized it it was horrible the whole entire time..grapthics are better then coh but game sucked hardcore

The game is 5 years old, but the graphics have aged well. It doesn't look like shit, you friend's standards are suspect.
If you take the prerequisite powers, you can fly at level 14, but you can get temporary powers, like a jet pack, pretty early.

Neither. Has 3 Bane Powers (Armor, Surveillance, and Build Up), but is built as a Wolf Spider. No, it isn't gimp, I think that's pretty clear in this video. It's damned hardcore. I have a guide on the official forums.

Yes, it's an MMO. Play on Virtue or Freedom, the communities are pretty large. Very cool, action oriented, solo friendly game, but with some cool team content, and an expansion on the way.

I dunno what my favorite is. This is a game that encourages you to make alts. I have over 30 characters, 15 or so that I play with some regularity.
Right now I am really enjoying my Stalker (not shown here).
As for leveling speed. I've seen people play 5 years and never get a level 50 (max) and some play a few months and have several. Casual gaming, mostly soloing, it might take a week or two to hit 30.
This game is not about hitting the m,ax level though, it's about the gameplay.

truely casual, as a new player to the game, it could take a month or three. As an experianced player, it will take far less. Note: CoX is not max level (50) oriented. The majority of the content to experience is sub-50.
The Video show some good footage of what you can experience, but there is sooo much more.

It is that good yes. You CAN make yourself look like that but because of copyright issues, you'll just have your name turned into something like "Generic 000 736 592 845". I would just enjoy the creator for what it is. It's a powerful creative tool and you can come up with your own stuff that can be even better.

No it doesn't. Champions online is slower and is more like a cheap ripoff console game that is already being nerfed to hell and back. CoH has 5 times as much content and customizability.

Dude you don't even know. This game is huge. Weapon and power customization, actual crafted loot (enhancement sets), tons more costume pieces, City of Heroes and City of Villains comes together now, a new expansion is on the way... This game has just so much added to it and so much on the way.

well so far i tried out champions and i ave played city of heros...i would say champions is a bit more dull....COH is much better cause almost everything is balanced, compared to champions where noting really is, but then again champions has been only been out for a few weeks now

Just picked this game up two days ago. Other than some lag issues on the east coast servers, it has been a blast. Your videos do a great job showing how much fun the game can be. Now, only if I could play as well as you, I may start to progress through the game a bit :P

Menu > Options > General > Window > Show Pet Window Option. Set that to Enables. At the top of your team window "Pets" will appear. Click on that.

Click on "Powers" on your tray. Then at the top of the powers window click on "Combat Attributes". You can then right click on anything in there and choose to "Monitor" it, which will put it in that little window.

if you did everything correctly u should be able to double click on it, when it loads up at the bottom right corner hit next, then hit agree which will be in the same spot and wait for the game to load and a box appears where u put ur username and password
