@paticalamaro The gaps are from curved platforms normally. Otherwise it is where sub-surface stock, the taller stock, shares the platform with the tube stock that runs in the deep tunnels and they have to have the platform halfway between the two levels as a compromise.
I love the tube and find it extremely easy to use. We just had to get the Mind the Gap announcement on video because it is such a London vacationer catch phrase.
I have to say on this trip that gap between ears was not minded so well... We were suffering from major jet lag and couldn't even keep track of what day it was. It is funny now, looking back on it. Gotta be able to laugh at yourself...LOL
No, dear juril001, not between your ears; between Londoners' ears in general.
.
You know how it is, you speak to someone and you nearly always have to say anything twice -including as they fall into the gap between the train and the platform.
LOL... Falling through the gap is one thing that I managed not to do. We loved London and found the "Mind the Gap" warnings charming. I guess that is because we don't speak the Queens English across the pond.
Does anyone know why, in some stations, are there hugee gaps? Its dangerous.. :S

the reason for the gaps is the turn in the rail and platform.
