  • What a lovely man! I am 3rd generation Irish here in the states but feel very close to my family in Westport, County Mayo. Another friend here in the states gave me insight into John and his Anam Cara book - which I treasure and cannot wait to buy Benedictus. He has touched my life and may our passing be as gentle as his life and words were.

  • What a wonderful person, this lovely man has made his mark on people's souls. I must read his work to understand where the beauty of life comes from: This lovely man seemed so aware and understood its reason; This gift given to us all.

  • I will always remember John. His warmth and big smile, his kind heart and humor, his keen intelligence and humility will always live in my heart. He taught me my first word in Irish and I'm forever grateful to him. Thank you for this lovely tribute.

  • What a lovely tribute for a great soul. Thank you.

  • Simply lovely video...thank you. John, eventhough I did know him personally, was one of my 'best friends' especially whenever I hit a low point in life....I would run and grab one of his books and BINGO!, beautiful solace was found in his words to lift me up.

  • Excellent tribute. Thank you for posting.

  • Thank you for taking the time to put this video together.Much appreciated.

John O'Donohue's words made life better.

    Thank you John.

  • A Saint of a man ♥

  • I never heard of the man before today.I was looking for something about a comedian from Kerry with the same name, different spelling.I will now Google the name.Your tribute is awesome. What is the song and who is the artist?I actually felt a tingling as I viewed and listened. From the bottom of my heart, many many thanks for giving me a few moments of bliss.Gura mile maith agat.

  • the name of the song is Happy Ending by Mika

  • John is a friend of mine. I never met him, but I read his words. I first heard his voice (Oh that lilting voice)thanks to Krista Tippett's Speaking of Faith conversation. I listen to it when I'm feeling low and need to speak with a friend. Thank you God. Thank you for your son and my Anam Cara.

  • Oh Lord, its only today that i learned of Johns death, ,through reading his books i felt like he was my personal friend, and inspiration, im in tears as i type, it feels like a little part of old ireland has passed away with him.

  • Thank you for a sweet soulful video. This man was very, very special. I don't know why but I only a week ago learned of his death. It has been a sad shock, and I know the world here will never be the same because of him. What a good soul.

  • I have spent the last couple of days reflecting upon his death and life and the profound integration that was him. Check out NPR's "Speaking of Faith" dedicated to him on Sunday. I also recommend checking out the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's program "Tapestry" from January featuring an interview. Rest in JOY & PEACE JOHN!! And thank your for your beautiful and inspiring life and narrative!

  • Beautiful tribute, thank you for sharing it with us.

  • Thank you for the lovely tribute. I only found out this morning he had passed...my radio turned on and I woke up to his lilting voice on an NPR radio show, and I settled into my pillow to listen. Then the host said he had died in January, and this was the last interview he had given. I was devastated. His writings have touched my life deeply.

    Rest in peace, John.

  • Thankyou all for your lovlely comments, he was a friend to all of us. all the best

  • Thank you for creating and posting this video tribute. I just learned of John less than an hour ago through my subscription to Suuzzee's channel. Although I know nothing of John I know death very well. I can feel your affection for him and your grief at his passing. This sensing through feeling may be part of my own Celtic roots, which are Welsh and Scottish but not Irish. You take care, David

  • Thankyou ever so much, John was a part of us all, it's a shame you never got to know him more, thanks for the comment, Dominic

  • Thank you, you are so kind and helpful more then any one can give and that is some thing special you should keep in your heart for ever and ever.

  • What I said that did not get posted ... how much I enjoyed seeing all of your pictures and hearing what you have to say. It's a lovely tribute video and John would absolutely love it, especially your intent to carry on his work. I will contact you by PM about that. Will be traveling before long to visit his grave and hopefully speak with his family. Will let you know when I'm coming. You are an absolutely amazing young man and I am so glad I know you! Love to you ... Suze

  • Dominic ... for some reason, YT is not letting my comments post here... Will give it awhile and then try again. Your video is absolutely wonderful! John would be so proud of you!! Not only did you create a wonderful tribute video but you also did not give up until you got it uploaded. I'm proud of you too ... Love to you! Suze
