  • @GentleStyle well than there the same asa blk crows and otis-___-

  • wow, donders gaaf!!

  • Otis puts the soul in soul music - yeah - I love the Black Crowes version which has he rock-grunge feel to it - but the original has that fire to it.

  • otis is bloody king

  • Thumbs up if you got here from the black crowes video and realized they didn't write this song.

  • This man wrote every single great song the world has ever known. 90% of the greatest hits are somewhat associated with his music. Its the most amazing thing to observe.

  • 当時、急逝して過剰に評価の上がった、オーティス・レディングだが、"Hard To Handle"これはまさに、ファンキーの一語だネ、これぞソウル・クラシック

  • that ain't nuthin but Drugstore lovin!!!

  • Lebron Traveled.

  • "When I get through throwing it on you, you got to come back for more."

  • he's just trolling...

  • @antdigger

You're kidding right? Otis Redding is way before The Black Crowes time. This is the same man who wrote "Try a Little Tenderness".

  • @ikill4klondikebars no he didnt, white people did in the 30s, it's just that noone but a black man could sing about using your sex to comfort a girl who's sad about being broke and pull it off, watching him perform gives me shivers.

  • @antdigger nah dude, the black crowes ripped of this guy -.-

  • @antdigger Are you real!?

  • @antdigger hahaha. No he didn't. The Black Crowes covered his tune years later. Redding did this back in the 60's. The problem is regular radio is very ignorant about where music comes from. They don't educate the listener at all. All they care about is being greedy...and ignorant. hahahaha

  • @antdigger Also: The Black Crowes' 1990 debut "Shake Your Money Maker" was named after the 1959 tune by Elmore James. It's on YouTube. It's amazing how little the regular radio stations tell you about the original blues greats. Without people like Elmore, Son House, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Willie Dixon, Jimmy Reed, Slim Harpo ( all on YouTube ) etc, there would be no rock and roll: No Rolling Stones, Beatles, Zeppelin, Doors and definitely no Black Crowes.

  • Zombie like soul

  • Man I love them horns. I GOT TO HAVE IT!

  • Steven I love you I forgot to mention that last time I had the chance.

  • I luv both the original and Black Crowes Cover, both are great :)

  • Did you hear that too? Sounds like Otis' sang "Baby, here i ham". I'm sure he's singing " i am" but it don't sound like. Great song by a great singer!

  • @fuckboner You are kidding right?

  • dode this was wrrtitten by jayz kanye west

  • @fuckboner Those people probably sampled this shit but Otis' left pinky fingernail has more talent and creativity than what Jay Z and Kanye West have their career, I am not a real big fan of Otis and I still know that. Sorry I am more of a Zepplin fan usually.

  • @Wisconsin222 you bit

  • @fuckboner Yeah I said the last part because I was afraid that that trolls would judge me okay!!!!!!

  • sam cooke is the best ever, but otis was decent

  • Thumbs up if Raising Hope brought you here

  • @jntcoolman1 REAL music brought me here............

  • @jntcoolman1

I'll prove my ignorance...I thought the Black Crow's version was the original. Had no idea this is actually the original. I'm even more shocked that Greyson (as seen on Raising Hope) sounds so similar to this version vocally.

    Awesome!

  • @sho942000 in all honesty i too was brought here because i was looking for the grateful dead version

  • @jntcoolman1 a mi me trajo the back crowes

  • And here I was thinking The Black Crowes were the first to do this song... I don't know which version I prefer, this one is softer and has a frikkin TRUMPET!!! But it's Jimmy Page from the Black Crowes..... =/

  • @ the greyson chance comments...singing with a scratchy voice doesn't mean you have soul. I've heard both, and it doesn't come anywhere near Otis.

  • I heard someone say Greyson Chance did it better. C'mon now his was good but there is no beating the original. This is true soul if only music was still like this

  • greyson chance did an awesome cover of this song. waiting for someone to post it. . . please? :)

  • @Alexandria1092 greysonchance97 did

  • @ds403 greyson97

  • Otis Redding was, is, and always will be an example of sheer greatness. Oh how I wish that he and Sam Cooke were here today. These two men just seem to set my soul on fire!!!

  • 12 People are easy to handle.....

  • This song is badass ONLY when Otis sings it

  • Does he say "I'm sure hard to handle now, GET'S AROUND" that's what some of the lyrics say, but I hear him saying: "Yes around"

  • nice I tought that the original was from the black crowes! this is so cool

  • @soulguy10306 its called a tribute. get that sand out o' your vagin

  • 10 dislikes = 10 twats!!

  • I didn't even know he did it..... love this version

  • 10 dislikes? Have each and every one of you the vocabulary to say why?

  • @filthyfunke true, this is far superior.

  • I wonder why Sam Cooke and Otis never dueted? - or did they?

  • @davbay100 Sam died before Otis could....In Sam's prime Otis wasnt making records.

  • @davbay100 cookes peak was 54 to 62, otis was like 60 onwards i think. plus sam cooke had a bigger nob which deeply upset otis thus denying him of a duet.

  • @davbay100 If memory serves, Sam died before Otis attracted the kind of attention that would have made a duet a possibility.

  • @davbay100 simply because otis became a star when sam cooke already was dead..

  • le top de la soul et les bases du RAP

  • Otis, you made my life worthwhile! Wherever you are!

  • WOW How have I never heard this song? The guitar surprised the hell out of me, sounds soo sweet with that trumpet goin'. Welp looks like here's another song that'll get the replay button abused.

  • thats one bad mahma jahma

  • no description available? none necessary.

  • "Our dead are never dead to us, until we have forgotten them"

    Still the greatest Otis.

  • Maybe now people will see just how much our African brothers and sisters made such a huge and wonderful contribution to our great American music scene. Because through music the gap between racial barriers were finally broken down. And the first place it took place was at Woodstock ! Isn't it soooo much better to love than to hate.

  • 9 dislikes get real must be typos...

  • Bass player is James Jamerson right? Not sure who played, but sounds like him.

  • @gregorymak Most likely, as you know Motown didn't credit session musicians until 1971 but James Jamerson played on just about all their hits throughout the '60s as a member of the informally named Funk Brothers.

  • @thedarkpresence I have been correctly informed that Otis did not record for Motown (thanks to JayNorem). His label was Volt, a subsidiary of Stax Records and his bass player was James Alexander, the only survivor of the plane crash which took the life of the great man and his backing band the Bar-Kays.

  • @thedarkpresence That would have been Duck Dunn on bass on this one, right? This was an Atco track, Dunn on bass, Cropper and the rest of the gang?

  • @blakedawg76 This is a tricky one to sort out, all right -- Donald Dunn was indeed the house bass player in Stax but James Alexander was Otis' bass player. I hold up my hands, it will take a better knowledge than I have to name that bass player. Off to the trivia site.

  • @thedarkpresence I think it was Dunn on the record, but I can't get anything definitive. A lot of players on the net are giving him credit for it. Let me know if you can confirm anything, I'm very curious now.

  • original gangster

  • Otis MY MAN!

  • FANTASTIC Arrogant...

  • The Black Crowes? Who's that? A cover? What's that?

  • This man is pimpin it posthumously... fucking brilliant.

  • @TreSabianB8 :) Yeahhhhh welll.... you know...

  • @TreSabianB8 Well, a rant that made sense and worked, so you should take the compliment and not correct me. :P

  • @TreSabianB8 Well, that seems like a very educated answer. Sounds correct. Well, it sucks. THUS we shall listen to the oldies and M&S. Haha...

  • @TreSabianB8 I like the way you think. A MUCH better time. I don't understand the point of all the shit they do now... tsk tsk tsk.

  • @TreSabianB8 Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and say you're right... seems like people were more appropriate. I wonder why...

  • @TreSabianB8 I just heard it and it's a mighty fine growl. I envy it. ^.^ Though, a girl shouldn't be able to growl like that anyway. :P I find it funny how this song could be kinda inappropriate in a way, but the way Otis sings it... its so chill and fun and doesn't seem bad at all. I LOVE it.

  • @TreSabianB8 Definitely. I'd like to see him at my door. And Van Halen has some EPICCCC guitar... I'm waiting patiently for the growl. Haha.

  • @TreSabianB8 I'll have to go listen to the cover again, but i find growls funny in period. Haha, this is funny... cause they are like screaming happy Christmas songs... haha

  • @TreSabianB8 Are they covers or parodies? I'll go look one up right now. ^.^ and in the original of pretty woman... I love the growl... HA.
