Straps are normally used for accessory movements so as to not tear off the hands. Primary lifts are done without them. Those commenting on him using straps probably are not lifters of any category hence cannot appreciate the stress that oly lifting puts on the hands. I say stick to your Joe Weider routine and do not comment on stuff you dont know about.
in Europe and America, we call that a power snatch. Therefore in China when they snatch they don't jump! So for them it's a snatch... We can see how the technique is different all over the world
@DXdu26 it's called a power snatch because there's no/not much of a drop in the catch. Similar like a power clean is where the catch his high or quite high (like legs don't bend more than 30%). The movement in the lift is like a jump whether the feat leave the ground or not in both the snatch and the power snatch and in the clean and power clean.
Little differences? Your kidding me right? Have you even tried using and not using wrist straps one lift after the other. It makes much more than a little difference. It makes a huge difference in pulling the bar vertical. You don't have to hold on to the bar as tight and that takes less forearm muscles, which is a huge key in the "pull" of the lift. Ask a person with wrist problems or a weak wrist if using straps makes a difference, they will tell you.
@barnesboy8 Have you ever heard of the hook grip? If you use a hook grip all the point you mentioned become moot. And if you're not using the hook grip then you have other problems.
Who cares about straps? Maybe he was doing a high rep workout and wants to save his grip. Pretty sure anyone who can power snatch 100kg like that has the grip to hold onto a lot more weight. Clueless people commenting.

I have a problem with coaches who don't practice what they preach. so when i see this coach performing a 100kg power snatch it is a testament that this guy walks his walk. He's not just talking but actually doing it.
@360Imports I won't disagree with you. Personally, when a coach actually does what he says then it's much more believable and powerful. This guy in the video is awesome and would rather have him coach me then some fat ass who has never done this before.
