@Specialized1993 Good question. Because I often hunt with more than one dog, if I use a common word such as "back" or "fetch" all the dogs will retrieve. If I use a dogs name, the other dogs remain sitting while the one dog I choose retrieves.
@Specialized1993 Yes, it is easy. But you don't need to do it if you don't hunt with multiple dogs at the same time. If you want to train you dog on his name, then just begin sending him on his name, you then have to train him off all other commands, I think I have another video up here which teaches that.
@23arbor Good question. Visit my web site, there are some articles there that will help you. I have produced a DVD which teaches you everything, it's got some hunting footage too.
@SullivanOlssen I don't know officially, my dogs heel, you need them to heel so you can direct them and line them up for the next retrieve. While training having a dog finish in front facing you is not a problem, many professionals advocate it in fact. I like my dogs to heel.
why do you call him by his name when you want him to retrieve?

@canadianwingshooter Is it possible to retrain your dog to fetch by saying her name?

How do you get to THIS point. Its obvious this dog has a lot of experience. How do you start from the very first attempt?

For an official hunt test are you supposed to call the dog to the heel position, not to a front position?
