It's because it heavilly deviates away from the comics. In fact all three movies do. Example being (spoiler, stop reading if you want to read the comics for yourself) Gwen Stacy being Peter's first Love Intrest and the one who was intended for him to marry. But since the fans prefered Mary Jane (who was simply created to test Peter and Gwen's love) after many issues and lots of thought, the creators decided to have the Green Goblin kill Gwen by dropping her from the Brooklyn Bridge not MJ.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE SPIDERMAN series and Tobey Maguire but in this movie you can see yourself how chubby and ugly he becomes, thats why there is no way they would use him for 4th movie look at his legs... Spider-man (Peter Parker) is supposed to be a skinny nerd just like it appears in the comic books

@gilsasi Hes not skinny in the comics. He was until he got bit by the spider. Then he became buff. The only time he is skinny is in Ultimate Spider-Man which is a poor comic series to say the least
