problem is there's a loop for each hand now and they're a lot thicker. they used to use those waaay back in the day but thats all changed.

Great tip for when I find myself kidnapped by idiots that happen to zip tie me with the cheap consumer type ties bought at a hardware store--and just happen to zip tie me with my hands in the front. What do I do it they zip tie me with my hands behind me and using the ones the police use? Also, do we want potential criminals to know about these techniques?!!

Also, cuffs are used on criminals. If an arrest is made using zip-ties, it's usually a mass arrest of rebellious demonstrators.

@zavaroudikos I would imagine you would do roughly the same thing, it just leverage and force against a plastic tab. the method shown is pretty much the only way to gain the sufficient leverage and force in the front so it cant be all that different with two.

That's not a standard issue law enforcement zip tie. Cop zip-ties have one for each hand and are connected in the middle.

Most of the zip ties used by military and police have two locking ties. They are similar to handcuffs in that there is a locking mechanism for each hand, as well as a strap for each hand. When I was in the Navy, that is what we carried for crowd control. While we never actually zip tied anybody, we often zip tied each other. And, trust me, you will break both of your wrists before you even get close to escaping from them.

My suggestion to anyone that is going to attempt to escape from zip ties is to know what type are going to be used on you.

I can tell you from experience, that many law enforcement officers and prisons use ties that are specially designed as one single piece. They have a solid dual lock in the middle and are difficult to get off even with a pair of industrial scissors. If you attempt to escape with the method he is showing, you will most likely injure yourself.
