  • media sux honastly, I know many people from the first book who have a claim in. Yes it has been paid before, and all the groups should and will get it the compinsation they just deserve.

  • @ForgottenAustralians

I have a video abt "Forgotten Australians" who helped Armenians during the genocide committed by the Turks...

  • @ForgottenAustralians ...I have a phyciatric condition...lived with it since I was a minor..under 18 years...lived with it for about 25 years...its made my life and the lives of my kids...unbearable sometimes....I only knew welfares way of life, from the age of 1year..they owe me for doing worse than my parents would have..yes''I am a white australian.

  • I think compensation definitely needs to be considered. It will never take away the damage of what happened but it may help people rebuild there lives. Many of those have for financial reasons been unable to go back to the UK to be reunited with their families for instance. The least the government could do is help them with that. Both the British and Australian governments have a huge responsibility for what happened. Money will not remove the memories but may help them find families.

  • The apology allows us to move on, a financial compensation cheapens the apology. Money will not remove the memories.

  • I agree. with the aboriginals they just wanted the apology just to have the gov admit they did the wrong thing .

There was a lot of anger from the liberal side for them getting compo.

I just wonder with this group being no doubt a lot of white people will they feel the same about compo for these people.

  • Well compare it with the outrage about the James Hardie asbestos compensation debacle. The government is propping up that fund now and I don't read anything in "The Australian" (that bastion of conservative group-think) about how unfair it is for the Aussie taxpayer to pickup the bill for gross corporate negligence.

  • We will have to wait and see .

Maybe monday after the apology there might be some talk about compo.

I heard nothing on this topic untill i saw this vid on the abc.
