The regular Decimator has Guitar in-out, while the G has that and decimator in&out as well. The extra "decimator in/out" is for what you would put in an amp's effect loop. Pedals that alter your guitar sound (tremolo, phasers, compressor/sustainers vibes, flangers, overdrive/distortions, etc) you put in front of the decimator, in the loop. Delay, reverb, echo (pedals that "add sounds to your original guitar sound") etc. you put after the decimator (after the "guitar out") in front of the amp.
Can the fuzz still oscillate when the decimator is on? And also, I have a fuzz factory and it picks up FM radio when you turn the volume all the way off on the guitar but yet the pedal itself is still on. Does that happen with the fuzz probe also? And if it does, does the ISP pedal cancel it out?
Yes, all the functions of the Probe still do their thing, including oscillations and other freakouts. Unfortunately if you get an FM signal telling you the weather through the pedal, that counts as a signal so the ISP won't stop it (unless you gate it hard enough to totally stop signals short of massive overpowering note making louder than the radio). That FM interference doesn't happen with my fuzz probe, so if yours does i'd have it checked out.
Because ive had nuthing But exellent service from musiciansfrend ,& I believe in your situation had u bought it from them, they would replace it no questions asked.

dont buy the isp...it will not stand up to giging conditions...my brand new decimator lasted 20 mins in a rehearsal....the company ignore your e-mails..."anybody there buck!!!!!"..save the hassle, and a wad of cash and buy a boss ns2
I think you,ll find they all come from the same factory in CHINA...so why would I gain an advantadge from buying it from a different retailer, the item was replaced by Highlystrung music...Its ok for straight out Rock..but when you back off the volume on the guitar for softer passages of music,it sucks all the tone, and the signal is sh*te...a waste of money.....al
hey I have a telecaster that gives me that same problem because of the single coils, i was thinking in upgrading them to a noiseless to get rid of that noise when the distortion comes in, but i dont know if the compressor would do the same work i want to ? ( noise reduction)
hey man. great right to the point no bull shit demo. love it. one question. when you turn the isp on, do you still hear a little static not feedback. or is it quiet like the amp is off. thanks bro in advance!
this particular amp is a tube hybrid - tube preamp for distortion, soiid state power section. if you crank it you usually are still going to hear a bit of baking from the tubes. the hiss you hear in this vid even when the ISP is on is actually from the crappy digicam i used to record this vid.
then why am i getting static sounds. even when i just have my amp on with no guitar. i do use a good amount of gain but i don't know why i get static like sounds?
it'll still do the crazy stuff with the isp on. just think of it as an extra "stab" control that works just on the unwanted noise like hum from the amp when the fuzz is cranked.
Oops right the gate. The gate will affect sounds from the Fuzz Probe only when the Probe is activated, while the ISP will affect sounds anywhere in the chain.
Although the Decimator is a cool pedal, there is something seriously wrong with your setup if you are getting that much noise without it. Are you sure that you are plugged into a fully grounded 3 prong outlet? Many outlets don't have the third prong actually grounded due to diy wiring jobs or bad electricians.
I have the unfortunate fortune to live right next to a power station. Nastiest power on earth. Very few things seem to withstand it - and definitely not single coil guitars, as used here.
does the fuzz probe provide the gain or are you using a gain channel on your amp though? since the standard decimator only cuts interference from your pickups and any effects before it in the chain, the hiss you hear there with the decimator engaged is simply from your preamp section and is normal, especially with most hi gain amps. The new Decimator G-string I just bought has an additional effects loop which also cancels that out too and you get total silence.
The gain is from the pedal, not the amp. When the ISP is on, the hiss that is left is actually from my camera, believe it or not. The amp is dead quiet when the ISP is on.
haha, I never thought about the camera causing it! I assumed it was just what was left from your preamp, there we go then mystery solved. While I'm here how much was that fuzz probe pedal?
I just got a laney VC50 and although the tones are really nice it's a well noisey amp, definitely gonna get a decimator now after watching a few demos in action. That and an aphex compression pedal, and whatever zvex I can get hold of in the UK (possibly an infection pedal, they're mental).
Believe it or not that hum is from the single coils and some nasty home wiring (dimmer lights!) it's a pure 60 cycle hum fabrication. The ISP Decimator has true bypass, no buffering in that pedal used to bypass. When I use a Paul, you don't get that hum, even using the same chain/rig. Tomorrow I'll put up a clip without the Fuzz in the chain to show the hum being reduced by the Decimator. For nothing in the chain, check my earlier Tele demos to hear the hum.
actually the isp decimator is NOT true bypass. it just has a really good buffer. I spoke to one of the isp techs on the phone for a few minutes to verify if it was or wasn't and i was told it is not true bypass.
the reason you're getting so much noise from the fuzz factory is because you're using a buffered pedal before it. you can't have anything before the fuzz probe unless it's true bypass or it'll make the fuzz sound like ass.
I have a fuzz probe and I don't use anything before it, and in some venues it hums loud just like that, while in my home it's quiet. The strangest thing is that it happens specially if I use any of my Planet Waves Custom cables before it. With cheaper cables it's fine.
Very usefull demo ; thanks

What's the difference between the isp decimator and the isp decimator g-string?

@Jahnli I see, thank you, and do u think the isp decimator would work well with a semi hollow body guitar?
delpimpo 1 year ago
@delpimpo yes, the ISP will kill feedback from a semi or hollowbody.

Ah no, a compressor would actually make the buzz worse, because it would bring it up to the same gain level as your playing signal. Not good.

just shield your guitar with copper tape, it'll make it silent.

isnt the point of the fuzz probe to make crazy oscillation noises? doesn't the isp suck some tone out of the probe when in use?

Hi,would the decimator eliminate the feedback I'm getting from my Marshall JVM 410C?
volley64 3 years ago
Yes, you can set the threshold so high that not only the feedback would be gone, your notes would become staccato too - handy for machine gun riffs!
