The neutral case (i.e. IT) is the proper word for referring to babies. Or, at least this is what they taught us when I was in school. It never sounded right to me and I've never once said it that way. When unsure of the gender, I might say "what's the baby's name"; although this is still technically a neutral case rather than Femenime/Masculine (She, He, It/The baby). "It" does sound incredibley wrong though (insulting even) when you do know for a fact what the gender is.

The Simpsons' golden age to me was from 1987-1998. Many 1998 episodes got stupid and more kiddie-friendly (except for the s** situations these contain.) Anyway this episode gives me the LAWLS
