  • 6;50 .. you can see Concorde :)

  • I'm not a real pilot...in fact I've never flown a plane in my life....but I still think the pilot of this plane used a bit too much flaps and touched down a bit too hard...oh yes and he didn;t deploy the thrust reversers quickly enough.... I know all of this because I can fly a plane on MS Flight Sim 2004. (sorry to be so sarcastic but I get fed up of all the comments on here from wanna be pilots critisising the efforts of real life pilots just becasue they've played a shitty video game).

  • i think u are supose to turn electronics off while landing XD

  • PAUSE AT 3:05 YOU CAN SEE MICKEY MOUSE.

  • Comment removed

  • at 2:24 there is a building in the shape of a dick XD

  • Give no money to turkish planes.

  • O2 areana wooooo

  • Thanks for sharing

  • I think this is about the best aerial film of London shot from an aircraft anywhere on You Tube - it's really wonderful to see the whole expanse of Central London from the approach to the City (City of London proper as opposed to the metropolis itself) with St Paul's Cathedral then over the West End, the Houses of Parliament, Horse Guards Parade, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, Chelsea and Kensington, Fulham, Putney, Barnes, Kew Gardens, Richmond Park and then the approach to Heathrow itself.

  • @xvoop: Fulham, SW6 can be viewed at 3:34 You can clearly see Fulham's Craven Cottage ground close to the riverside, and the Fulham Palace Road leading up from Putney Bridge all the way up to Hammersmith Broadway, W6. I live just over on the other side of the river from Fulham - in Putney SW15 which can be seen on the opposite of the Thames from Craven Cottage. Unfortunately my own home is just out of range of the film.

  • What is the semi-circle shaped building at 5:53 ?

  • Emirates stadium with highbury at the biggining my supporting team nice video

  • 1:33 = London eye :D

  • Did you enjoy England?

  • @justawhispr so true...can't wait to go to London!!!

  • i spotted ASDA in Hounslow

  • I haven't been on a plane in 8 years. I guess this is the next best thing....Thnk heavens for you tube eh....

  • Whoo hoo! I'm in London...oh, no wait, darn I'm still in front of my computer in California. That was awesome. I'm getting so antsy to get back over there. One more year to go!

  • Good video and good man who record the video! ;-)

  • 0:07 top right corner emirates stadium!!! not that im an arsenal fan:p:p

  • Poor quality

  • like the shadow on the ground as the plane comes in to land.

  • At 3:14 Can you see Stamford Bridge!

  • @GroTTaniF also in 3:39 there is craven cottage!!:D

  • great video...!!! Bravooo

  • @mcgillianaire I like your version of Samuel Johnson's immortal phrase! I always thought it went: "When a man is tired of London he is tired of life!" You can live your entire life in London and spend every single day of it going all around the Metropolis yet you will not see or experience everything London has to offer.

  • I am flying to heathrow next week i have not been there in over 20 years this was a great video

  • Good video. You're flight must have headed west from Los Angeles, since Heathrow is west of central London.

  • Good vid..at 1:44 you see the London Eye observation wheel and to its left across the river the long brown building with towers is Houses of Parliament. Who would build a new airport where most days you fly in over the city-even in the late 40s when Heathrow first started it was crazy. Its time they built a new No 1 airport well out of town with high speed rail/road connections but of course nobody wants it in their area and there would be a big fight against it.

  • Nice Vid man So awesome....Dreaming of going there :)

  • Next week to London. Holy shit its big

  • i flew last year from Los Angeles to London and had alsogreat views like this was able to see london eyes the parlaments etc..great video

  • I really enjoyed this video - I live in London but as Samuel Johnson once said, "when a man is tired of London he is tired of London, for there is in London all that life can afford". Thanks for sharing. :)

  • Awesome; London is so overwhelmingingly H U G E .......... - Great work

  • ooh..you can just see the london eye...i have been on it its amazing :L

  • I didn't think any city could look as pretty as San Francisco from the air but London certainly is lovely as well!

  • Nice video, you can see Fulham and Chelsea's ground as well.

  • woww nice video thanks for uploading

  • Kew gardens baby!!!! :D

  • Thank you for this nice video. It is indeed as clear as that letting us to see London through above . Cuz it is available to see the palace of westminister and Buckingham Palace fabulously or the streets of the city. I thought that it should be a great sense when plane touches down , just like : yea i am really in london right now!

  • Awesome video! Nice and lots of detail. Thanks for doing it! Was immediately impressed after seeing Arsenal's stadium so clearly.

  • Wonderful - London is a great place to live and visit . Excellent views flying west . 1.29 The old city and Blackfriars Bridge followed by the 'West End' : 2.23 Battersea Park : 4.45 Kew Bottanical Gardens .

  • @epmorris no it isnt, its the most overated city in the world.

  • I tried to film the landing like this video when I wen to London but the flight attendant

told me to put my camera away..

  • @057gnb3316sef6 On what airline it was?

  • i flew into London this sep 2010 it was cloudy but i was able to see the london eye..

thank you for sharing this superb video of London on a great sunny day

  • Thats so cool you admire and are proud to live in London... most of the Londoners don not know how beautiful an exciting their native city is.... I just cant wait to live there 4ever... miss u London city :-

  • biggest problem at heathrow is there are corupt people working on the immigration checkpoints who are payed big money to let illegal immigrants through checkpoints. Now you understand why there are so many dishonest foreign nationals in london who don't like honesty. There is a massive illegal immigration scam going on in heathrow airport by some corrupt staff who are making big bucks. It's all covered up as the people in charge are part of the operation.

  • @1982FMJ if that is the case you should report so that the higher ups can look at it, not through youtube, most UKBA staff are doing their best and is generally honest, their job is on the line if they participated in such dubious practices.

  • Why u didnt did a zoom in?

  • It has been such a longtime since going on a plane, just watching this video i feel like i should take a trip to London beautiful view, and landing Thx you giving me time out. @bevi

  • Nice video - decent camera

  • are you aloud to record while landing or taking off ??

  • one of the best videos of landing I've seen so far

  • YES! Great view of Craven Cottage! Thanks :D

  • Great video, I like how you can see most of London when Landing at Heathrow, It really brings out england!

  • Excellent movie....

  • How long is the flight from LA to London non stop?

  • On our return flight to Heathrow from Libya last November it was around 20:30hrs and so dark, but it was fun to see the lights of France fall back out of view as we headed out over the narrow pitch dark strip of the English Channel except for lights on all the boats but the long strips of lights along the South East coast of England soon came into view and flying over Kent was amazing at night and I was trying to identify places as I know Kent very well indeed as I went to school there.

  • I hope you had a really good time here in London on your return visit last month, PsychExcursion. I hope you appreciated all the lovely weather we had arranged for you here in England. My home is almost directly beneath the flightpath of this aircraft but not visible in this clip - just out of range, but the office where I work is.

  • PsychExcursion: It is now 01 July so I assume you may have gone back home to America now - if so I hope you had a fantastic time here in England. At least the weather has been fine. My home is almost beneath the flight path of this aircraft but not visible in this clip but still close. Last time I flew into Heathrow was on a flight back from Tripoli, Libya - last November and it was dark & London looked amazing all lit up and I could still pinpoint the main landmarks of the city floodlit.

  • @Gavestonful Thank you for this comment. I was back in America for a little while but I'm actually back in England for a little while. I have been loving the weather and especially loving England!!! (I will be posting a new flight video soon, but unfortunately we didn't fly over Westminster...but I will still post.) Cheers!!!

  • England Rocks!

  • What a great experience and impression! Unseen, eternal, special and different then other!

  • At the time I was using a Crappy Kodak Z10 (no zooming when videoing.) But, I will be using a Cannon A2000IS when I pay England another visit in June!!! Thanks for Asking!! =)

  • Some roads in and around London are thousands of years old. Cannot find any roads in California that old. Hope we have the same approach and landing (with sunshine) when we fly in from San Francisco in three weeks. I wonder if all of the British Airways planes will be grounded (strike?) then. I'll be in a United 744. Maybe it will leave more air space around the volcanic ash clouds. - detours have been adding one hour to the already nine hour eastbound flights.

    Thanks, for sharing!

  • Londres ai vou eu......me aguarde....

  • directly over stoke newington/stamford hill at the start of the video, the emirates and old highbury stadium just under the wing.

10 seconds earlier and you were right over my house!

its been strange seeing & hearing no planes in the last week

  • i see da emirates stadium start of vid

  • ooooooooooooooooooo

  • well at least it was a nice clear day and u get a great view of the city u can see the london eye and river etc normally u see them flying over london kind of low u know there going into Heathrow

  • London is great but Heathrow is a disaster !

sorry , but heathrow should be bulldozed flat and the whole thing rebuilt properly.

  • @rllang01 heathrow would never be bulldozed, it is bulit perfectly, i dnt see what is wrong with layout or the builidings, frankly, and also they would lose money, also it carries the most internation passengers in the world

  • very nice landing ... congratulations to the pilot and off course to the cameraman =D

  • 1.42 legendary!

  • @allyplumb what do you meen with "1.42"

  • And if your sat on a plane for over 10 hours, it n e e d s to be comfortable!

  • My trip back from LA was on a Virgin Airbus A340-600 window seat, having to share my left hand arm rest with a fellow passenger.

I have to say, I did find the A340 to be far less comfortable than the 747-400!

  • at 4:30 u can see the planes shadow

  • Dunno about fun in driving there...but thank God for GPS....im sure it helps a lot down there.....and i shouldve paid more attention to my history class! LOL....Just Love watching this landing over and over..its so cool........reminds me of how air travel was PRE 9-11 days =(

  • Watch and comment my Aircraft videos!

    And don't forget to subscribe! (;

  • oh wow ! the london eye is H.U.G.E !

    great video !

  • I actually paused and spotted my apartment in Fulham!

  • Oh how awesome!!! =)

  • @sandrony2004 could you tell me where is Fulham on this clip?

  • i wanna go to london on the a380 on buisines class but i have to score Straight a*.Which means 91+for EL,MA,CL And SC'

    impossible right?

  • You're american

    WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH(CRYS)

I wanna go to london(I know i sound desperate, but i am really young)

  • Hahahaha...Yes I'm American!!! you still have plenty of time left...believe, be brave and follow those dreams!!!!

  • Cool Shadow.....Question: But why are the streets of London all short, crooked, round? Cant imagine driving from one place to another there....

  • good question! my guess would because the roads possibly follow old/original roman pathways!!!

  • Bulidings in London were built hundreds of years before cars were invented. So London doesnt have straight roads like New York. They were just paths for horse and cart. Thats what makes driving so much fun. A lot of roads in England are like race tracks, especially in the countryside.

  • @donalduck815 It's funny in england were used to it, when i recently visited america i got bored in trips in the car because the roads were so straighforward.

  • @donalduck815 ...And were built long before cars were invented...

  • Thanks for posting this ... makes me think about my last visit to see my family ... now I feel like its time for another visit. Brings back memories of how excited I was when I landed the last time about 6 years ago.

  • you are most welcomed. I actually wish I had family there. I would have a much better excuse to visit and even live (again) this beautiful country. Ususally I go to the UK for neuropsychology research however, I will be returning there again this summer for just plain fun!!!

  • love it! thanks for posting

  • Ah, there is nothing like landing at Heathrow Int. after a twelve hour flight. The last 20 mins or so are the worst ones (if you are looking at the little map in front of you, that is) cuz cuz that is when almost everyone is awake. :)

  • Yeah,my camera..a HP R717 6.2 megapixel doesn't zoom on videos either....kinda fuckin annoying when i was in NYC a few weeks ago....i put it on my channel of the UN building but it would have been much better with zoom...couldn't be asses buying a new cam as thats the only fault i find with it.....Happy Christmas

  • where did you fly from?

  • I flew out from Los Angeles!!!

  • imagine being under that shadow lol

  • Splendid video, thank you for sharing with us.

  • when was that flight?

  • this was my first flight from Califiornia in February 2008

  • This is really interesting. Great views of London. I Never get views like that flying from Ireland to London. We just don't seem to fly over the city at all.

  • @EloiseDecember u wont because heathrow is the west of london pretty close to the outskirks you will never fly over the actual city itself, flying from dublin anyway

  • @MrDbs09 Yes, actually in that case if it is to the west flying from anywhere in Ireland to UK we wont see city. Have to fly to US first.. lol. Tks for the info :)

  • @EloiseDecember you can always tell when ur coming in from the east, in that case if u come from the americas or suttin like that, you will the whole city, but if u come from dublin its the west and heathrow is on the west so yeah u see wht i am getting at, also i remember going to land at heathrow coming back from australia haha, and we had to circle round london 3 times because of th traffic, since it carries the most international passengers in the world

  • Awesome video- one of the great descents!!

  • massive city just incredible

  • Comment removed

  • I'm sorry to disappoint you, but it was in fact a 747 with a first class upper deck. plus, I doubt a 737 would have the capcity to make a non-stop flight from LA to London!!! plus, the safety information packet placed in the seat infront of me clearly indicated a 747-400 model!!! however, thanks for the comment...interesting observation!!!

  • How long was that flight? L.A to London, that must have been like forever.

  • I believe it was a 12 hour flight...It was nice because we left LAX at around 6pm and didn't land until 11am (or so) the next day..I had plenty of sleep!!!

  • No its definitely a B747-400 look at the wing fence at the end of the wing, and also the outer Turbine ! you can see the nascele at the back of the Turbine casing , thats a 7474 737s dont do trans atlantic they cannot/are not allowed to ! they simply dont have the range non stop

its over 6,000 miles and 11/12 hours from LA to Heathrow!

  • look at the shadow the jet forms as it comes into land on the runway you can see four turbines on the wings!

  • no it is a 747 look at the shadow on the ground and u will see!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Not a 747?? maybe its an 848 then....

  • That is a 747 u idiot! as you can see 2 engines on each wing u donut! a 737 has 1 engine on each wing! plonker!

  • This view would certainly cheer you up after your holiday abroad has ended..

  • Aircraft wherever they are from have to land and take off into the wind

    :-)

  • they made me put my camera away during decent.

  • 2:30 Battersea Park

  • I can see the Bush House and London School Of Economics too! Wow

  • Wonderful London!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i guess i was on the same flight from lax to lhr, a month before this video was made. The experiance was estatic. Spectacular, breathtaking view of london, just loved it. N yeah three cheers to this video

  • hey how cool!!! If I could, I would take the flight again and again, but for now...I call England my home!!! perhaps soon enough I will see London again from a birds eye perspective!!!

  • this video makes me cry

  • Hey! Don't use electricities while the plane is trying land!

  • :D LOL

  • yea...but harm can it do to the plane by using electric devices ?

  • Nice, should be me doing that flight this time next year. Cheers.

  • nice shadow at 5.30

  • OMG! Big Ben, Waterloo thing and London Eye at 1:40!

  • I love London <3 <3 <3

  • i flew british airways to san francisco last year.i remember the views too

  • Thanxs very much for posting this great Footage over-looking London. I'm a Born and Bred Londoner still living here very proud of my city but to tell you the truth (shamefully) ive seen more of London in this vid then i have my entire life time spent living here. We do have loads of great historic landmarks and places steeped in history and watching this footage made me relize i should take the time to visit them. I would also love to visit the U.S esp New York and LA for their history too.

  • Unfortunately, I believe it to be true that we know and see more of the world around us than our own city/towns. We often take for granted the locality of what we call our home. Although, this is not always the case! Thank you very much for you kind comment, even though, I'm American I love England and everything England represents...This is truly one spectacular country that I still have yet to further explore! Unfortunately I have never been to New York, Although, I would love to go! =D

  • What happened with you happened with me too. I live in the national capital of India, New Delhi. There are many historic landmarks here. I have visited the historic landmarks in China,UK,Singapore,Malaysia but never even card to visit places in Delhi itself. Like the Red Fort, India Gate. So, dont feel bad or ashamed. This happens with everyone =)

  • That is the same with me. I was borne in Berlin and I have not seen all beautifull things in Berlin.

  • @whitelilliespaniel You`d like to visit New York and Los Angeles for their history ? And you live in London? I`ve been to The States, but not for it`s history.

  • really great vid. 5*!!!!

  • Lovely video...Brilliant...

I live near heathrow, and its just awesome, thankgod the concorde isn't there though, the sound of it makes the houses vibrate...

  • City of cities, truly is. I live in Japan, wonderful place. But if you're looking at capital cities, London takes the biscuit. I always get a seat on the right when I fly back, more chance of seeing the great metropolis that way en route to LHR.

  • Ah..yes...Craven Cottage - Fulham FC! If I had a quid for every time i've been up and down the Fulham Palace Road and across Putney Bridge and back again I'd be a very wealthy guy! my home is in Putney - just off the Upper Richmond Road.

  • i didn't/don't want to leave either...I would love to live here in England long term!!

  • Thank you SO much for posting this vid, PsychExcursion. I hope you enjoyed your time here in London and England generally. I enjoyed naming all the bridges across the Thames - I always do that when flying in over London in daylight.

  • I truly did I was there for 7 months on that particular trip. I came back to the states and now I'm back here in England for another 5 months I would have liked to have made another video of my most recent trip here but I wasn't fortunate enough to get a window seat...Im glad you liked the video!!! :-)

  • THIS surely has to be one of the most wonderful sights in the whole world.....arriving back HOME! I have seen this same view from a plane on a number of occasions when flying back into my country again from abroad...the same route taking us over south London with Central London and all its familiar features in the middle background..the City, Waterloo, Westminster, St James' Park, Buckingham Palace, Victoria and on over west London then finally Heathrow. My capital city - my country again!

  • wow i like the view great vid mate :)

  • at 3:40 can anyone tell me who's stadium that is??

  • That there is the Craven Cottage football stadium in Fulham! Go Fulham F.C.!!!

  • Nice Quality BTw at 1:31 to 1:56 is london eye... (THATS BIG WHEEL) nice vid im happy to comment on this vid

  • great video!!

i love the shadow of the 747

  • Awesome Video !! but something is weird i cant understand ...how come u traveled from los angeles ? ... if the plane was heading from los angeles it should be heading in the opposite direction. because los angeles is in the left side of the world

  • Hey thanks for the comment, The video was started when the plane was heading East. We had to circle aroung greater London twice due to congested runway traffic at LHR; ultimately heading west for landing at LHR. this video was a product of our second half of our circle around Lonond.

  • oh... i am gonna travel there soon to some place called bedfont...u know it ?

  • Yeah, Bedfont thats a small town right next to LHR (literally!) I have never actualy been there -(at least I don't think!!) I might have driven through it when driving on the M3 to London. At least you'll be closer to London than I am! Enjoy your time here in England!!!

  • Actually, if I had been filming on the other side of the aircraft. I would have caught Bedfont on camera just prior to landing!

  • It doesn't work like that. So you are saying if a flight is from Beijing it lands from the East while one from the US lands from the West?

The direction you land depends on wind direction. If the wind is from the West, then you land towards the West. So a flight from LAX will have to go east of London and turn around to land.

  • Thats an excellent video mate, thanks for sharing it! I love the BA 747s, would love to fly one myself one day. Really well done. 5 stars.

  • It was a great flight!!! I'll be flying back to the USA again in Dec to vist my family in CA. long flight but never dull!!! Thanks for the postive comments

  • one of the best views in the world

  • stunning view, makes you proud to be british!! well done on the video, nice work!

  • loll i can see da shadow of the plane
