Thank you very much for this intro- I appreciate it highly. Without you.. I wouldn't of figured out how it worked if you didn't introduce the white CD. I thank you *bows in respect*
you cand use the gameboy adapter to use you gba as a gamecube contoller the adapter was mostly used for traiding pokémon between ruby, saphire and emerald to pokémon Colosseum and also as the Tingle tuner on The Legiond of Zelda: the Wind Waker(Unlocks minigames) but if you pluged it into slot 1 on the gamecube you could use the GBA as the contoller for the gameboy player (their is a likn cable port on the front of the gameboy player for game link ups, lol gameboy LAN party)
You don't have to use the GameCube Controller you can hook up a GBA or GBA SP to the second controller port with the GC to GBA link cable and use the Game Boy as the controller. Once its connected just power up the GBA and the nintendo logo should start fllashing while it connects and you'll be able to play Game Boy on the TV using the actual Game Boy for the controller.
@smashmaster13 Yeah, somebody posted about those earlier. I looked into it and they sell for between $100-160! That's a bit much for a controller in my opinion. You could probably pay an electronics person to professionally modify a NES/SNES controller to fit the Gamecube at that price point.
Are you serious? I thought they were like 20 maybe 30 tops. Yeah, that's too much. You know with the Wii having GC controller ports you would think someone would make a nice digital alternative for all those Virtual Console games by now.
@StickPeopleAndPuff There's 1 by my house that I've been in a few times - that's where I got my PSP from. Overall, their prices are pretty jacked on the retro stuff. I think everything I sell at my store is priced way below them.
Hori made a controller called the Gamecube digital controller, and its shaped just like a SNES controller. The shoulder buttons are digital, no analog sticks, and the Dpad is nice and big. the controller still has the gamecube face button layout, but other than it looks just like a SNES controller. It's also a licensed nintendo product, so its well made.
It makes playing these games a lot more enjoyable. I haven't seen one around, but they are cool and worth it if you enjoy this device.
You can get official nintendo cables taht let you use your gba or gba sp as a controller. Also, there are third party adapters that allow you to use a nes or snes controller with your gamecube which also means it will work while using the gameboy player.
Update on the TG-extravaganza: Emailed the store, they gave me a tracking code. Went to the post office with the code. They told me that the package has been sent back to france. emailed the store, waiting a response from them.
@dommiesan 'cause I didn't go and get it fast enough. The funny thing is that I didn't get any letters saying that my package is arrived, so it's not my or the stores fault, but if I have to pay the postal fees AGAIN, im just going to ask my money back and buy a TG from you or something. :P
The GameBoy Player really gives long life to the Cube... like it was at the time with the Super Game Boy, its great to play those little games on the big screen.
Plus, with all the games on the Gamecube, Gameboy, Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance, thats the biggest game library on any system
I think they had adapters to actually use a gameboy advance as a controller with this, but don't quote me on that. The Gameboy Player is definitely the way to go if you want to record gameplay footage. That or Super Gameboy for the SNES
You can totally hook up a Nintendo e-Reader, a Game Boy Advance SP and play Super Mario Advance 4 (Mario 3) on the Game Boy Player and the Game Boy SP. Using the e-Reader hooked up to the GB SP and then through a connector cable to the GB Player, you can swipe in extra lives and power ups while playing on the big TV...so fun!
If you don't like using the Gamecube controller, check out retrousb . com. They have adapters to use original NES and SNES controllers with the Wii which would also work with the Gamecube as the ports are the same. When you use a NES or SNES controller with the Gamecube, 'select' is mapped to the 'Z' button so you can still access the Game Boy Player menu.
i got my game cube and the game boy player when they were still selling game cubes at the end of it's life and must say im glad i got the player when i did because atleast over here i'd say its pretty rare to find a gameboy player.
@Hal566 I've never come across them through my usual sources for my store, but it seems that Gamestop in the US is oversupplied with them at the moment. That, and I believe they are getting ready to purge all their Gamecube stuff so the prices are extra low.
@dommiesan i love when gaming stores have stuff really cheap so can just go buy and stock up. :) What i dont like though when this happens though i seem to be pretty broke most times. :( lol

If you have the right cord, you can hook up a GBA or SP to the Gamecube as a controller. Works wonders for the Gameboy Player.

@dommiesan No, although they're pin-compatible, the port shape prevents you from using one, getting an adapter shouldn't be too hard.
