  • Some notes in that 1947 Earth song "Ishwar Allah tere jahaan mein" are taken directly from this song. To be specific, from the beginning of the 'antra' in this song.

  • Awesome Lata, and Vaijayantimala ,Dilip Kumar and above all Salil Chowdhury.

THAT IS GOD.............

  • 1958. Bimal Roy was the director.

  • Thank you very much I do like the old Indian filmmusic very, very much. Those were the days...long ago ( infortunately)

  • Vintage Lataji

  • Such an amazing movie. Nothing like the bullshit you get these days.

  • salilda and lata combination is fabulous

  • Can someone kindly upload the film Madhumati on youtube. I would be very thankful.

  • Lata at her best.Sung from the heart. thanks.

  • there is so much longing in that voice

  • This beautiful song gives me goosepimples!

  • Gosh.. Some notes bring tears to my eyes... Is this Raag Bageshri ?

  • yes loosely based on bageshri esp the first line. However it being salilda, he uses Shudh Ga also. The beauty of these great composers is that these notes never jar though not in the original rag. They seem to spontaneously emerge out of the melody when needed.Unlike some other M.Ds (who i wont name) who seem to put them in there to show their mastery even though the melody screams in protest!

  • GREAT SONG...GREAT VOICE...GREAT LYRICS.....GREAT MUSIC.....Thanks for posting

  • haunting....... Salil Chowdhury masterpeice... and lata ji at her best.......

  • Salils simple but classical tune.

  • great songs tq guys.

  • I can't forget this song, as my favorite teacher Usha ma'am had sung on Annual function.

  • if you lissun carefully to her crooning the word 'jo' in the line, jal na saki jo bujh bhi a paati', you will know why they worship her. her chrystalline rendition of this song got her the filmfare,.

  • lovely song that cannot b made again....
