I would love to see the amiga resurface with up to date technology. But sadly amiga's history tells a different story. This new amiga will probably take years to surface for purchase, if at all.
The other major issue with the amiga is usually by the time hardware is released it has already obsolete for years. But hardware alone will not help the community, there MUST be new software (Games and Apps) available, or there is no point to buying new hardware.
The X1000 is just a hoax. It was supposed to have been released back in Summer. After VCF they started showing a printed paper picture of the X1000 motherboard mounted in a case at shows. Then A-eon came up with a beta pre-sale program and announced that would begin in November. November came and no beta boards but A-eon started taking money. Now it's the end of November and the beta people have heard no word from A-eon. Starting to look very, very scammy!
You are spreading FUD, all the successful Beta Testers are being informed this week of their acceptance into the A1-X1000 Beta Test programme. so things are happening. Of course not as fast as we would like, but I'd rather we get it right this time and not have to make track alterations and add resistors and missing codec chips to the board like we had to do with the Eyetech A1-XE. At least A-EON are trying to learn from past mistakes.
And now it's 2011 and the betatesters - who paid a lot of money to be in the beta program - STILL haven't gotten their boards. A-eon has this to say about it on their website: AmigaOne X1000 Beta Testers should take delivery of their revision 2 Nemo motherboards during the first quarter of 2011
The beta boards still haven't shipped. That isn't FUD it's solid fact. The X1000 was due in Summer 2010, then Late 2010, now after Q1 2011. Fact not FUD.
still waiting for this vapourware..laugh my arse off....It will sell a few thousand to die-hards, then go the way of the A1....a-eon will then probley go belly up when the double dip ression hits the uk in 2011....good idea but u have'nt go tthe money or the resources to compete with Microsoft or Apple
Even if this sells significantly less than your estimate of 1000 units, it will still be more than enough to secure furher development into emerging PPC architectures and this means in future more cheaper and more powerful AmigaOne hardware.
I've seen it on shitloads of pictures from the day, all on different machines too! Hearing it in the background is the kicker though. Don't they own a copy of 9 fingers?!?!
Nice and well deserved unity of true people that have "made Amiga go PowerPC" :-)
Now with ACube and A-EON designs (where A-EON is quite high class and desired machine, like A4000T PPC or A3000 PPC) I suppose software and OS could be more EP440/460 and misterious CPU optimized :-) Amiga spirit
I am more for XMOS chips then some high expectations of dual core PowerPC CPU, but this would create software that is unable to be run on SAM/PEG/A1.
Maybe some system layer that can use in background?
hello 2012 ??? still not out yet??? who the fuck is going buy high end in a recession ??

Maybe A-EON should give the same dates that Hyperion always give:
When it's Done

@amiga1productions Or maybe A-EON should not talk about their products at all until they're done.

The guy reminds me of Alan Redhouse. I'm not sure that's a good thing. No more mystery about the CPU - PA Semi Pa6T 32/64 bit Power Architecture!
