I had some hope when I heard about Obama's speech in Colorado where he announced proposed changes to student loan repayments. Thought it means the politicians are starting to listen to the varied voices of the 99%.

@GNYBerlin Genau, ich war in Berlin (und dann noch einen Tag in Weimar) und war unter anderem im Sea Life, im Loxx, im Technikmuseum, war "Hinterm Horizont" anschauen und habe liebe Menschen getroffen. Das Festival of Lights hat anscheinend aber erst angefangen, als ich wieder weg war (schade eigentlich), aber die Gebäude rund um den Potsdammer Platz waren trotzdem toll beleuchtet. (vermutlich war dort alles schon vorbereitet)

Fortunately they finally shut it down a few years ago. It was so old! I remember growing up with fear of an accident and bombs during Cold War. We are lucky nothing ever happened. I wish you luck as well.

Thanks! I like to run, but I cannot run in the rain now! A nuclear power station threw a lot of radioactivity to the sea and sky to avoid exploding reactors. Radioactive contamination has already spread from the north east area to the east area...that's life in Japan!

@NWOrDREGS Oh, that is really interesting. Which camera? Is it an American or a European camera? I ended up returning the American camera and getting the European camera fixed. It just has more of a film look. But I'm now more seriously looking into saving up for a better / more expensive camera that will shoot in 24p and give me the choice of PAL. I prefer to have something small that always fits in my purse. But I sacrifice quality for sure.

By now I've returned the camera I had bought as a replacement and instead get my European one fixed. The American NTSC just didn't look as good as the PAL. Techy nerd stuff ;-)

Thank you so much for your interest and support. Yes, isn't 11 years a funny term. I like it for it's randomness. It only happened because by chance Tobe and Ove where both in NYC 11 years after they had gone onto the bridge for the first while doing an exchange from our German high school. I was there for the second meeting and that's when one of them said: let's meet again in 11 years. Three times makes a tradition, right?

But I had no clue they had marched onto the Brooklyn Bridge and that the cops had closed off entrance to the bridge from that side. By now I've learned to check Twitter to see what is happening with the movement. Tomorrow they pan to take Times Square...

The protest on the the bridge was part of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Right before we showed up, the police had arrested 700 people. It made the news later that day. At that point we had no idea that this was the reason they wouldn't let any more people on the bridge.

@GNYBerlin True, I read in the news about the ongoing protests nowadays in the US! I'm sorry to hear about your broken TZ10 as well !! :( That was an amazing model. I hope your new baby ZS10 performs fine in HD. I also own a Panasonic Lumix as well (FS3), it has a 60-second exposure mode and that's perfectly fine for me when taking Night-Sky pictures.

@Neueregel I will have to check out the FS3. It's complicated because they have different names in the US vs Europe. The new ZS10 didn't work out well. It shoots in 1080i, which is a pain because of the interlacing - and overkill because all I need is 720p. And then it's NTSC which doesn't look as cinematic as the European PAL.
