  • so what? fuck you I'm running a 429, run circles around that heavy pig. no ones perfect

  • @1972FordF150 Oh Wrong am I? Really? Did you know the 360 and 390 are both the FE block and they look exactly the same from the outside. So unless you measure the stroke or look at the V.I.N. number, you can't tell which it is. They just told you they have a 390 because they didn't know any better. Go look at that truck I bet it has a "Y" code for the engine meaning it is a 360 engine.

  • @miniredreward They ordered the truck dude. They ordered it with a 390 V8 in it ! and yes I know that. The 352-360 and 390's look exactly the same ! we have a few FE blocks in the garage and I know what they are.

  • @1972FordF150 Well then, that truck needs to be in a museum because it is one of a kind. I wonder if Ford still offers the "If you order the truck, Ford will put what ever engine you dream up into the truck" program? You can believe whatever you want, but go get the V.I.N. number from that truck and run it against Ford's decoder.

  • @miniredreward LOL dream up ? wtf lol anyways cool video. And I can't get the VIN number because the person doesn't own the truck anymore. Plus he died.

  • for the record 76 was the last year for the FE engine. 77 went to the 335 series (351m and 400)

  • man!!!!!!! i remember my dad taking me to school in the winter.them old fords took forever to heat up.i still hate the snow till is day.....

  • @drew7473 Your dad must have had a problem with the thermostat. If it is stuck open the coolant will circulate between the engine block and the radiator preventing it from warming up (or taking longer to warm up). Normally the thermostat stays closed forcing the coolant to stay in the engine till it gets hot. Then it opens and circulates through the radiator to maintain the warm engine temp. The truck's heater gets its heat from the coolant. Cold coolant means no heat. $5 would have fixed it

  • So that's what happen to my 1974 ford

  • no 1976 was the last year for the 390. you dont know fords.

  • @MegaTroyhamilton Go look up V.I.N. codes and then come back and apologize.

  • What is a "high boy"? Just the 4x4 model? Was it something different? Were there 2 wheel drive "high boys"?

  • Actualy the last year ford put a 390 in a pickup truck was 1977 !!!

The 390 was used from 1968 up to 1977

  • @sjeng100 you have mistaken the 360 and 390 engines, if you want to refuse the difference I will sell you some 360s for the 390 price.

  • I've seen several of these around here. Never thought about "high boy" being anything special. Right now there are at least 8 that i know of in this county that's tagged running. I know where three are sitting in a junk yard. I'm gonna go make me some money.LOL

  • i was gonna put tru duals and a cam in my 91 4.9.....but a 390 may get it goin a little better...

  • it's a black 1976 f250 custom ranger xlt

  • if you go to ford truck enthusiast and look under big ass trucks and look at madfordman you'll see my highboy "tank"

  • The last year Ford put a 390 in a pickup was 1972. Both trucks in this video must be "Y" code 360 engine trucks. However, maybe someone either swapped in a 390 into the 2wd truck or stroked the factory 360 to 390.

  • You are right the 390 in the 2wd was put in it by the previous owner. I pulled the motor out of the 2wd and put it in place of the 360 in the high boy.

  • @miniredreward I thought it was 76? Maybe that was for 360s

  • @miniredreward Wrong actually. 1976 was the last year for the 390 and they kept putting them in trucks until 1976. I know this because I know people that bought 1976 Ford trucks NEW with 390's in them.

  • @1972FordF150 Where do you dream up this bull sh*t? Do you know the difference between a 360 and a 390? The 390 has a longer stroke, so unless the people you know pulled the heads and measured the stroke how the hell can you tell me it is a 390? The 360 and 390 look exactly the same from the outside. They 1973 through mid 76 got 360 engines, no more 390s. Go have the people you know stare at their V.I.N. number, I bet it has a "Y" (meaning 360) for the engine code on their 1976.

  • @miniredreward Actually you're wrong. 1973-1976. M CODE = 4 BBL 390 V8 and H code = 2BBL 390 V8

  • @miniredreward

72 is not the last year for the 390fe I have a 1973 f100 that has a factory 390. Ford made so many 390's they wound up trying to use them up in later years.

  • @miniredreward : That is incorrect. The last year the 390 was used was 1976. I have a '73 ford f100 with the original 390.

  • yes because of the divorce transfer case the tank don't fit and the frame is narrow in the rear so use a 150 rear tank from a van for two tanks

  • "highboy" frame rails are 32" wide rather than 36" wide like on a 2wd truck. This is why highboys had the fuel tank in the cab. Some trucks had custom smaller tanks under the bed. I have a friend with a 76 that has a tank in the cab and 2 below the bed.

  • isn't it that only the highboys have the fuel filler cap on the cab instead of farther back???

  • I don't know but mine does.

  • @jp23jd Every 4x4 built from 1968 to early 1976 was "lifted" from the factory. That was back when people bought trucks built for off-road and hauling stuff, not for fuel economy and good stereos. High-Boy is a dreamed up term that ford doesn't reccognize, every 4x4 from 68 to early 76 could be called a High-Boy. Some people will tell you High-Boys have the enclosed knuckle Dana 44 front axle, but the 76s and a few 77s had open knuckle Dana 44s.

  • @jp23jd alot of f100's and f150's have the in cab fuel tank. its right behind the seat

  • highboy 4x4s have 4 inch lift blocks and divorced transfer case and were made from 1967 to 1977 and a half

  • Yep thats what mine has.

  • @7072757679 I thought they made them until 79 because thats when they came with power steering

  • ford highboys are just factory lifted fords, but the actual high boys are made in 76 and early 77. thats what i've been told by a ford specialist.

  • The "highboy" term was made up by ford owners rather than by Ford. If you park a 1973-1977.5 next to a 1978, you will notice the 78 sits much lower in the front end. This is where the term "highboy" (earlier taller pickups) as a opposed to the 1978-79 "Lowboy" pickup. Most people claim that only the trucks with heavy duty Dana 44 front axles are true highboys. 1973-75 the HD Dana 44 had closed knuckles and 76-77.5 had open knuckles but it was the same HD Dana 44.

  • All I know is ours is a 1973 my uncles high boy is a 74 and my friends is a 76. If you look on craigslist you will find them from the late 60's all the way to the late 80's.

  • Since "highboy" is a made up term and was never used by Ford, anyone can tell you that any old ford 4x4 is a "highboy". A sucker might pay extra for a 1988 F250 4x4 because some "expert told him it was a highboy"

  • Ford High Boys are only made in 1976 only..

  • Ford higboys were made from the late

60's to 1977 and a half ,my dad bought higboys in the early 70's from the dealership.
