you are hilarious. cant help laughing when you mentioned your "worlds's worst chair". anyway great videos your instructions and explanations are very clear they really helped me alot.
Here you use the move tool to mark where the additional component copies will go, I've seen people use the rotation too though... to create copies in a circular pattern. But I've tried to do the CTRL+rotate, and then do the "Number of copies + slash" but it isn't working.
columns are killing me, not because they are hard to make but because it is slowing down my program so much.. does making components or exploding components help reduce lag on the program??
Hi I was just a bit confused, on the vid were you are showing your house, things are made into groups so that you can hide them (so you showed your house with no roof then no walls etc.) can this be done say if you made your roof a component?
Also I think these vids. Are great and are really helpful ... also I love your house!
Glad you like vids! About your question: You can absolutely make the roof a component instead of a group. I made it a group instead of a component because there's only one, but a component would behave exactly the same way in the Outliner.
I wrote a blog post on the SketchUp blog about doing exactly this -- do a Google search for "SketchUp blog component libraries"; that should turn it up.
Thanks for the Videos, you are a good teacher. Could please tell me, how can I save the componets used in one file and then be able to use those components in a differente file. The componets from one drawing don't appear when I open a different drawing, Why and How can I have the compenets available at all times? Thanks, and I hope you help me.
Aidan, Another very helpful video. Could you please elaborate on the feature you used to make the 15 columns evenly spaced between the original columns? Thanks so much!
To make the columns evenly spaced, I typed "14/" after I moved the copy of the original column. That told SketchUp to make 14 copies total (including the one I was moving), and to space them evenly. Does that help?
brilliant tutorial, thank you!
