okay i love this song, but metallica is the only other band worthy enough to cover an even more epic song such as Hallowed Be Thy Name or rime of the ancient mariner, but maybe james realized he'd sing di'anno's vocals better than Dickenson's which makes sense. Great version! Yeah, those people ... "not the original" ... "Maiden is better" ... blah ... honestly: Acover is the way of bands saluting their own heroes. They only cover song of bands they like. If they´d play it exactly like the original it would just be a copy, a cover means playing that song their own way. I think thats great! True, some crap it up, but this one is great! This recording is from 2008 - hence it's Trujillo on the bass. However, Metallica played a very brief cover of this song live at Donington in 1995 - with Newsted on bass. Check out the recording here on Youtube...
