  • Just a point of interest, the rider who Dufaux beat in that TT, Paolo Savoldelli, later went on to finish 2nd in the 1999 Giro. Of course that was AFTER Marco Pantani was kicked out for having an elevated 52% red blood cell count. Why did I mention Savoldelli? Later the Giro race officials admitted that on the morning Marco produced the high blood count Paolo was also recorded as having a level just a touch below the 50% thresh hold lol. Poor Christophe Bassons, a career ruined by cheats.

  • I like your exposure of the role of performance enhancing drugs. It put paid to the carrer of a defender of clean cycling Greg Lemond. However its wrong to scaepgoat festina as its obvious this sort of systematic doping was prevelant throughout all major teams of that era. However its hardly the case that contador and schleck are riding any slower than these guys were....so what does that say they are up to exactly???

  • from the chopper view in the hairpins you would think they're going downhill if you just tuned in.
