For the Christian elements argument, it's very possible that by "lions" she means Daniel in the Lions' Den, and by "giants" she means David and Goliath, and by "charade" she could mean the crucifixion of Christ; however, I interpret it as lions meaning the ancient symbol of fortitude (in many religions), "giants" representing higher powers, whatever they may mean to you, and "charade" as a way of saying don't take life too seriously, death isn't to be feared. Just wanted to add :)
