  • @idrepublix, epic posting. Very entertaining to read, but because I know absolutely nothing about this author, I have no reference from which to consider the arguments on either side.

However, your bitter (ok, hateful) words have inspired me to investigate this guy and see what all the fuss is about. So which book would you recommend I read if I were to choose just one? I want a book that is enjoyable but also clearly displays some of the cultural issues/obsessions you are criticizing.

  • @skilledtrailers I recommend one I just read for my Honor Spanish Class this year, its called After Dark and you can even find it in pdf, I loved it. You can try it out to see if you do too... awesome, japanese lit

  • It's the sort of book, I can pick up and just flip to any page on a lazy day and read it over and over again. It's like revisiting an old friend, quiet magical. I can never get bored of it.

  • What is the book like, please? :-]

  • @AnastasiaGNP if you're white, you'll be salivating and getting horny off of it. because murakami worships white shit like their worthless music and food. the protagonist is forever having pea soup and listening to some pathetic white 'music' from the 50s.

if you're not white, or worse, whitified, then you'll have the intelligence to cut through all that garbage and see what a good writer Murakami is. you'll also realize that he's in no way masterful, but he does have his moments.

  • @idrepublix Hmmm... well thank you :) Erm, I'm half Russian, half Mexican... but I promise to cut through the 'garbage' :D

oh and what do you mean by " 'music' "

  • @idrepublix I can't get over the irony of you typing in english

  • @jinnaboy No irony in my parents moving to the motherland of the colonialist rapists after their centuries-long rape of their country and my speaking the language, you cringing fuck. More than fair, and they didn't thieve - like yours - they worked. Lots of irony, tough, in the fucks that were your grandpappies raping my country for so long - and never leanring the language the whole. fucking. time.

    You=fail.

  • ken'ichi kun, let me know where is yukihiro san. can't find him in a movie. Harry did a good job, thou.

  • Murakami rules, defenitely my favorite modern writer...

The book is amazing although I like "Dance dance dance" more

  • @jaygiroux Typical response of a cowardly white fuck like you. No substance, no challenge. Just waffling empty vacillating.

Also, learn to speak and comprehend English. Certainly, Murakami 'can be full of shit', like anyone else - as I said. He isn't holy - no one is. But then you French are pretty holy about your Islamophobia eh? Go back to saving your shit republic by...banning the Hijab. Go on. Be a man!

  • @MiaBratinovah really? damn the book is really amazing and I expect this movie would equal the book, is it that bad??

  • One of the best books I've read in a past few years - Norwegian Wood!! AMAZING!

  • it's beautiful

  • love the book & movie

  • Yay a Beatle song for a title

  • i love Rinko Kikuchi

  • i want to watch it online for free. do you know where i can do so?

  • I don't like the Reiko character in this novel, either, she's getting too much in the way, the whole novel feel so forceful to read whenever she was around.

They could have picked a better looking girl for Midori though, Midori, as described in the novel, was much more reserved & noble than what she looks in the movie.

  • plz f anyone has a copy of this movie or a link to download plz share it to us.. i really want to watch the movie...

  • Tran Anh Hung is always awesome :)

  • Beautiful Movie, seen it yesterday in the cinecitta its a cinema in the Netherlands.

  • I certainly didn't imagine Reiko to be that hot.

  • Annother film by Tran Anh Hung! Can't wait to see it!

  • Does anyone knows when it's coming to Mexico?

  • Does anyone knows when it's coming to Mexico?

alguien sabe cuando se va a estrenar en méxico?

  • Norwegian Wood - The Beatles

    VVVVVVV

  • whats the song on the end?

  • just finished the book, I can't wait to see this!

  • Oh, how I wish for a film adaptation of The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle to once become a cinematic masterpiece.

But yeah, Norwegian Wood is a pretty good book too. Can't wait to see the Mariner (or Storm Trooper, Nazi, whatever he's called in your language) with my own eyes. ;)

  • @Marphis WUBC is my favourite Murakami book, but I cannot imagine how that could ever work as a film

  • Reiko always annoyed you? Why? Like all of the characters in "Norwegian Wood", she is very deep, interesting, and central to the themes of the work.

  • @idrepublix

Uh, okay... how does she represent "Westernization"?

  • @idrepublix

I get it now; you're an angry, bitter Asian racist that hates whites. I asked how Reiko represents "Westernization", and you answer with a bunch of garbage not even in the novel (she is not a "skank" nor a "leftist").

You're a confused, racist idiot, who lashes out at what he considers "Westernization", whatever that even means.

Just know that if you were man enough to spew that garbage to me or anyone else in public, we would shut your smelly mouth for you, permanently.

  • @idrepublix

Haha, it's so funny to see a filthy, miserable, subuhuman racist boil over with such rage. (Not to mention turn a discussion of a character in a book into one about how much he hates whites and the "West")

But you're the one "hiding behind a monitor"; if you ever dared to say half this shit to my face, I would fucking end you, as would any self-respecting non-Asian.

Just realize you're a cowardly, piece of shit 35 year old idiot racist who will die bitter and alone.

  • @idrepublix

Ladies and gentlemen, it takes a truly miserable, demented, pathetic racist to turn a discussion about a character in a Murakami novel (Reiko) into a crazed filibuster about "white oppression".

You're a sad, sick idiot, idrepublix, who shouldn't be allowed outside, but kept sedated in the nuthouse. But if a lunatic like yourself ever decides to harass anyone in real life; white, black, or Asian, with your drivel, rest assured you will be put down. Like the trash that you are.

  • @idrepublix

I'm about done indulging your lunacy, but no, Reiko isn't "Western" just because she happens to like the Beatles or play the piano.

Only a racist idiot like yourself would make such a connection. And don't lump yourself in with any Asian group or their historical plight; you and you alone are miserable, demented, and pathetic, and virtually all Asians would see you for the moronic, hate-mongering trash that you are.

  • @idrepublix Literature are full of shit, it just matters if the 'shit' touches you on a personal level or not and when it does sink deeply enough, it becomes something quiet magical. :]

  • I am reading this book now, I have no idea tht they have made it into a movie. I love this story, it's so well written. Really draws me into it. Bravo! Hope the movie is as good.

  • That's amazing, I had no idea he was involved.

Glad to hear your review...seeing it is going to be a really special moment...

  • Finally got to see the movie a few days ago. Very faithful to the novel, well-made and truly beautiful. I did not know this, but Haruki Murakami actually co-wrote the script as well.

I cannot wait for it to get released so I could re-watch it.
