The Descent is a brilliant movie. It would also be in my top horror movies, but the others you mentioned, would be a bit lower in the list.

@Citrus3000 its a debatble genre. considering its part of the evil dead series means you can class it as a horror. I mean part one is straight up horror. they do use more comedy in the others but the horror aspect will always be there.

interesting choices! I am a fan of fearnet, and so many people categorize due to comedy influences or just 'ghost stories'. I love the inclusion of all 3 evil dead movies in your list! they should not be discounted by scare fans due to their heavy tongue in cheek take on horror!peace....

@dandrew953 It is a good tribute. I don't agree with your choices, but why should you care? Horror movies depend upon what one finds horrifying. I could say that X,Y, and Z are far 'scarier,' but I'd just be expressing my opinion (God forbid!) I'm just happy people still support horror films and the escapism they allow.

Wasn't that just a Top 5? Anyway nice choice with The Descent and The Exorcist both excellent films. (In my Top 5 too). But Army of Darkness and Evil Dead 2 are comedies first. Evil Dead 2 goes into horror after that. But Army takes adventure second and doesn't really have much horror. And Pulse yeah....
