  • this is amazing!!! o.O <3

  • Thanks for shearing Subbed

  • Thank you so much! You have now successfully taught me 6/8! Such a good teacher. Thank you:)

  • This helped me so much.

  • So when u do the up n down strumming s it DOWN-up-down-DOWN-up-down?

If it is it doesn't feel natural :-/

  • @daviddjportugal No, I'm pretty sure it's just up down up down :)

  • Thanks brett!! your videos helped me out a lot! :)

  • yay, thank you so much! this was exactly the song i was trying 2 learn and was having trouble with in the first place. thanx! =)

  • Your voice is so relaxing. This was really helpful, thank you. :)

  • so the strumming pattern is still the same 1 2 3 4 5 6 down up strum with accents on 1 and 4? or does it start with a down down strum? If that makes any sense

  • thank you so much! u helped a lot! the only vdeo that helped.

  • wow this actually helped aot. thnx. do you also do tutorials for the song?? or is that asking too much? >,<

  • really like your workshop, check my songs if you get the time please, cheers The Makem Folk Singer

  • pretty hair

  • Thank you! Very helpful :) This is the hardest part for me for some reason!

  • well done clear explanation

  • do you think you could do the up parts slower cause like im confused and my strumming is all messed up:/

  • THANK YOU! I did not understand how to do 6 8 time until this video!!! :)

  • Thanks! I've been trying to learn to play The Only Exception, but most videos only game me the chords, and this helped with my strumming pattern!

  • Good job and thanks for the song sample in 6/8 time too.

  • Good job and thank you for the song example too.

  • Good job and thanks for the song sample of 6/8 time too.

  • thanks for the help! you have a very unique sounding voice(:

  • Is this suppose to be for beginners? If not, then sorry.

If it is, I am still confused cause as i watched you sometimes your pick would go down and up and sometimes it wouldnt....

  • Thanks for the tutorial. I'm still struggling though. My kids say that I'm guitarded. I now understand what 6/8 is and can count and play, but when you play the only exception, are you skipping or partially playing a down or two. I can hear something other that just the straight 6 count, both in the original and in yours. I really like the strum of this song, but can't duplicate it.

    Thanks.

  • thank you for this wonderful video, i can FINALLY play this song :-)

  • Thanks. I'm trying to learn Anna Nalick's "Breathe". I think this will help.

  • I know this is gonna sound stupid, but the only stupid ? in my book is the one that's not asked,so here goes. How do you accent the beat? Do you pause a second before? or hit the strings harder? I don't have my guitar plugged into the amp,,,is that why it's not sounding it?

  • @strumforlove sorry this didn't help you. no need to be angry about it. in the video, i'm counting in six and all i'm doing is perpetual down-up strums to a count of six. start with just down strums. get that to a count of six and then try adding in up strums between all your down strums. then accent beats 1 and 4. i broke down this entire strumming pattern in the simplest elements in this video so take it slow at first and build on each one.

  • @guitarfriendlynet im so sorry for getting angry ): sorry sorry i apologize it was just in the heat of the moment.

    sorry, still friends? cool (:

  • @strumforlove Dont be a dick! I dont see you teaching anything asshole

  • Plaese keep making videos you are like the most helpful and easy to understand!!!

  • 6/8 =P

  • what is the strumming pattern for 'the only exception'?

  • fantastic video! has really helped with my strumming! i'm a beginner and you've kept me going. great teacher!

  • It's the only tutorial on Youtube that helped. lol. How about the strumming pattern for 4/4?

  • @joenasfanatics I did a video lesson a couple years ago of 4/4 in a two part series. Check it out under my other videos.

    hope it helps!

  • Yeah. I knew it. Beats one and four as i saw to your tuitorial. I'm still practicing it :) Thanks again. :)

  • Comment removed

  • @jobabybear The first pattern is done in just all down strums.

  • @guitarfriendlynet oh. yeah. Thanks alot :)

  • @jobabybear No problem. And also, don't forget to accent (strum a little louder) for beats one and four. As you get this, you'll feel the pulse of the rhythm a bit more.

  • very good explanation!
