Somebody please explain to me how a band like Coldplay is bigger in the US than Keane? Coldplay has about 6 or so good songs. But Keane has about 30 great songs in my opinion. I only discovered them recently by accident. I can't believe they've been out there making great music and I discover them 7 years after their first album. Unbelievable.......

@watkinsa100 well, coldplay are still a decent band (even though i don't really like them) compared to some other musicians who are even more popular (disgusting lady gaga for example, lots of untalented hip hoppers..)

some people just can't see the real quality, but that's their bad not ours :-))

I've been in love with them since I heard Somewhere Only We Know a couple of years ago. I don't know why the entire world isn't fangirling about them or something.

@BlueSky8791 Yeah, I think that's truly getting the heart of it. Although I think there are just a lot of "it" factors that can't even properly be articulated. Chris Martin's personality tends to be a bit more outgoing and uplifting than any of the guys in Keane (don't misunderstand me, I LOVE Keane). Coldplay's songs are a bit more accessible to the average singer. Both bands are experimental, but Coldplay plays it a little safer and often with better production. Finally, better management.

Surprising or not; I let on: I'm a big Coldplay fan too!:) and I'm glad for C. is prefered all over the world! ...but I see that KEANE is undervalued (maybe except in UK or in South-american regions...), and think it isn't fair, in part because Tim is an excellent composer, in turn (as everybody can see) Tom' has got a rare particular talent for singing! ... Otherwise I agree with You that both of them are phenomenal in live!!!

Keane are working to a "formula"which is fast becoming" lacklustre".The jingly piano,4/4 drums just along for the ride as with the bass.Toms voice although nice,needs to really be able to grow and mature.For that, it needs a new source.The boys are talented But they need to move on from this"template"that they feel safe with.

True, Under the Iron Sea was still great because the experimented with electronica (love the grating synthesizers!) but they lost me with Perfect Symmetry, Spiralling sounded like a joke or something. I hope they go back to what they were before, I cant take another sellout band. :(
