Every 3000 does seem a bit excessive to me - the best oil change i did was on a ford KA where it had been running in the same oil for 23,000 miles - the oil what i drained came out like very thick bitumen and very smelly , the woman who owned the car said there was a loud clicking noise from the engine - i said to her that i was supprised the camshaft had not seized up and that it was still running due to the old oil probably blocking the oil passages.
I dont understand why you do it at six months or 6000 miles. if you only use 3000 miles and six months comes up that doesn't mean the oil is any less good then six months with 6000 miles. the 24 hour clock doesn't affect engine oil, engine oil being used when the engine is on is what affects it right ? far as I know oil doesn't break down like that.
@batterez - Changing oil often is merely donating consumers money to the Big Oil industry, tossing out good oil, increasing the burden on the environment and wasting money. The 3,000 mile drain pain was from the 1960's, 50 years ago now. Oils and engines have come a long way in 50 years. Check out the 409k Mile Oil Change video at my channel. Enjoy. :) If you have any questions, feel free to message me. Have a super day! :)

this is like those sex education videos kids would watch in school in 4th grade except the quality is better and the narrator sounds more excited

Only idiots and women believe that 3,000 miles should be the right mileage to change the oil or they go wayyy toooo over the limit.
On my BMW, I change it every 15,000 miles; my Hyundai Sonata and Honda Prelude, every 7,500 miles.

I believe that synthetics are the best to use. I change mine at 6 mos or 6000 mi and never a problem. Currently at 150Kmi.

You know that the whole "Change your oil every 3000 miles" statement is a marketing scheme right? Granted it is good to change your oil often.

I change the oil once a year, I drive about 13 000 miles a year.

Amitboy1980 3 years ago
Check cooling system (make sure proper circulation of coolant, check radiator fan, line isnt blocked etc).
Also lubrication system.
Im not an expert, but you can send me the details, i will try my best.
b21b61 3 years ago
@b21b61 he should also check to see if the cooling system is bleed right at the engine. also needs to check that the fan is working correctly.

Classic! nothing much has changed when it comes to engine lubrication except that oils have gotten better over the years.
