Incredible guitar riff and nobody commented on the body painted topless dancer at the 1.49 mark. Fleur De Lys were awesome and their sound has stood up well since those 60's. Nice Post.
Well, guys, actually the guitar is played by Bryn Hawarth, the lead guitarist of the Fleur-de-Lys, who were Sharon's backing band. He played a borrowed white Fender Telecaster through a Vox AC30 amp and about 30 seconds were edited out of it. Page reputedly produced a couple of her tracks but he didn't play on any of them - well, he didn't need to if Bryn could play like this. Check out some of the other Fleur-de-Lys recordings - they later became Rupert's People.

MISINFORMED....doesn't antimatter..this was from '67 even before L.Z. Most people in later years contribiuted this (understandable) to Page. Bryn Haworth seems to have found God,a few years after this incendiary purgatory performance. It's rumoured God never forgave him for this slice of string burning.
@fiendwithoutaface66 Thanks for that bit of info. I always thought that it was he because this style of playing is in the vein of Mud in your eye (particularly the solo). I was a little heartbroken to hear that it could have been a product of Little Jimmy Page's session work. Thanks for setting the record straight.
@Scotttyist I don't think Jimmy Page was even involved in the band at the time Bryn Haworth was in there. For the record though he just produced some early songs by them, they were in a different lineup, he's not playing on anything. There's a longstanding myth that he plays on Circles but that's Phil Sawyer who was later in the Spencer Davis Group.
Snowfire.......although she worked with the Stax crew in Mephis, this trancelike incendiary guitar work, came from Bryn Howarth, short time member of '67 London based mod band 'Fleur De Lys'

Right song, wrong singer---the superb instrumenation is total kick ass and begging for a Tina Turner type vocalist to CEVOUR both the song and the band---the vocalist on this kind of track has to be able to be in front at all times. The way this should have been recorded was to amp Sharon Tandy's mic to distortion level to create an whacked out effect in groove with the 60s. Can you imagine what Janis Joplin would have done with this track?
What? 40 years later you decide you want to be they're manager? How it should have been recorded? Yes, I can imagine what Janice Joplin would have done to this song! Wake up a smell the Fleur de Lys!
pero que le pasa a esta chica?? Le gustaría de verdad esta tema con Les fleur de lys? LO digo porque no parece que aprecie el pedazo de solo que se marcan. Realmente excitante la guitarra!!!!!
Has anyone got Sharon Tandy doing Toe Hold on Video? If so, please load it up 'cos it's great. I think she's backed by Stax band, he Bar Kays (Otis Redding backing)? Mick C.
Real name, Sharon Winkelman, wouldn't have caught on. But Fluer de Lys were ace. Sharon keeps her composure and the group go effing mad. Brilliant! Should have 'Only play LOUD' on the label. Mick C.
Between 1965-69..One of the best she recorded. She also did a couple with Fleur-De-Lys and as the 'Tandy' in Tony & Tandy.
Other stand out tracks (for me) have to be 'Toe Hold','Love Makes The World Go Round' and 'Our Day Will Come'. Not the strongest voice in the World for singing.. but there just 'something' about her and her singing that I latched onto in '65. Thanks for the memories.
I disagree, I think she has a very strong voice. And Im a pretty harsh critic being a singer myself. While I admit her voice sounfs a little tired at this performance, if you listen to "I wanna Be Your Baby" on the Sharon Tandy collection, her voice sounds pretty damn superb.
Hi, Actually I have found singers to be rarely critical about other singers -a fact borne out of over 40 years experience. I bought all her singles when they first came out so you could say I was a fan. She had/has the range but not the strength and on that we agree to differ.
Absolutely explosive!

The guitar riff reminds me of Traffic Sounds (best latin group ever!) Yesterday´s games. Maybe this 45 was also available in Peru!!

Yes, the guitarist is Bryn Haworth, using a white Stratocaster. And no, Jimmy Page had nothing whatsoever to do with any recordings involving Sharon.
Fleur De Lys released one single as "Ruperts People", as they didn't like the song, and refused to have the "Fleurs" name on it.
Also, Sharon is still alive, but has been suffering ill health for some years, and is still one top lady.
