  • Seems kind of a like a sandboxing program.

  • ..hahahaha..LOL..dislike!!

  • One word: Sandboxie

  • the funny thing would be to had your music not undeleted and your pictures and the rouge still in your computer XD

Anyway i got the pro version by giveawayoftheday(was lucky my avir antivir expired before a week :P)and i think i should keep it as an antivirus(not for the virtual pc tool) do you suggest me to keep that(pro version for free) or go buy a other antivir.?

  • What program did you use to create this demo?

  • comodo is all u need

  • HI, Matt. because of your video I am now using Returnil. Simple and easy to use. Thanks. One question: How are you able to record this review and restart your computer without having to redo the recording program you are using? In other words: what are you using to record this. Thanks. I like your videos.

  • @zaputzaput1 He uses a virtual machine which emulates a OS on a physical computer, and he appears to be using Camtasia Recorder

  • what happens if i run returnil and then removing hal.dll and rebooting my system ? FAIL LOL! :P

  • ok guys, RVS 2010 is much better than the previous edition. I've been using it for over 3 weeks now and i haven't had any problems with it. I love it so much i can't see myself doing without it. The new version doesn't take so much computer memory like the previous edition. However i won't advise anyone to use it with sandie boxie because when used together it uses so much computer memory its not even funny. So give it a trial.

  • @DudeOfAfrica I disagree with your statements. Returnil using memory is not a problem . I have xp 2.5 GB memory . I have returnil running and have 2 web pages opened and its only using 670 mb memory. Returnil problem is the high cpu spike. even at rest its high and hits 100 cpu constantly even when browsing or looking at email.

I have downloaded the latest version returnil claims they have fixed this issue. But they have lied because all of us are still experiencing high cpu

  • @vampirehunter33 Well it doesn't spike my CPU Usage like the previous version. When i close my web browers the CPU Usage drops to like 11%. Right now its running smoothly, for me at least. However, i noticed whenever Returnil is disabled, the CPU Usage is a bit higher than when i enable it, i don't know if its just me experiencing this but i don't care because i have it enabled for the most part. My OS is Vista and my RAM is 3GB. U should visit their forum and they will give u tips to fix this

  • Do yourself a favor and don't download this junk. It works perfectly well when u first install it and for maybe a week or 2, however, it will eventually crash your computer. It crashed mine and that of many others (do your research), like most people i was forced to restore my computer to factory settings just like when i bought, thats right i lost all my files, software and updates, thank God i saved my most important files on a USB stick. Goodluck as u will learn the hard way

  • Are you tired of virus infections, system corruption, the "oops, I didn't mean to delete that one" and every other moment of "Oh No!!! My Computer!!!"....just say goodbye to all those moments. Meet Mac OS X Snow Leopard!

  • is it just me, or could a virus copy itself to your Z: drive?

  • yeah returnil definitely has some bugs in it . I am running xp 2 GB memory . and it froze all the time. returnil spikes CPU even with no program open not even a webpage CPU would go to 100 % . the people that make this pussy piece of pig shit need to fix all the stuff wrong with it.

  • thanks for the advice. i was gonna try installing it but then canceled it after reading the comment...:(.. this piece of software smells like pig's shit....xD

  • Ok For My New Hp Laptop I Got For x-mas which is windows 7. i have this combo to protect my comp:

    -Microsoft Security Essentials Free Edition

-COMODO FireWall Free Edition ( Only The Fire Wall)

    -SUPERANTISpyware Free Version

    -Malwarbytes Free Version

    -sandboxie

Am I completely Safe Or Could I Just Get This With MSE And Be Perfectly Ok?

  • it looks like a rouge antivirus :3

  • Is this one of those new sandbox programs?

Can it really protect us from EVRYTHING except keyloggers?

    What about BIOS viruses?

  • BIOS viruses cant be removed... because no one has made one yet... but BIOS viruses could still be on a system even after you wipe out a hard drive... just think of a virus inside your sound card

  • i installed this once, got a lil glitch i think, can't turn off system safe, it tell me to reboot to turn it off but once i got back on it didn't so now my computer in a constant reboot.

PS: if that happen to any of you guy, go to safe mode and uninstalled it and then reinstall.

  • can i put returnil on my computer with kaspersky or will the conflict with eachother? pls reply

  • how does this work with windows updates???

  • thats what i thought, I think it removes updates as well... but im not entirely sure.

  • well im sure they had to think of it... or else the product is just not good.... becuase you need windows updates...

  • well i read about it alittle, and it says just turn it off when you want to install programs and updates you want to keep on your real hard drive, not the virtual one. then once they are installed just turn returnil back on so it takes the new "snapshot" of your system.

  • oh ok.. do you use this program? i've been thinking about getting it but im not sure..

  • im not going to get it because i'm the only one who uses the computer, and just regular System Restore is good enough for me :)

  • im the only one that uses my computer also... now i think about it i prolly wont get it.. its kinda useless to someone who has a good AV and doesnt download ALOT of stuff... i download some stuff but i uaually pick "smart" about my downloads.

  • plus if you have windows, most installs you make with updates and programs make a system restore point, so if something goes wrong, you can just use that to restore to a certain date.

  • viruses can disable system restore

  • true but thats why i have Avira as my main antivirus, and malwarebytes and superantispyware as my backup. the only reason I dont want to use Returnil is because I dont really need it and don't find much of a use of it for me.

  • Love your reviews, and please, don't pause.

  • Waste of RAM. Sandboxie does a much better job IMO.

  • In your Opinion, which is better: Sandboxie or Returnil?

i will take more then 1 comment of opinions.

  • i perfer sandboxie coz it use less ram & run faster...

  • i use sandboxie because im use to it..try them both there free ;)

  • wow, so this thing virtualizes the whole OS ?

that's pretty cool, I might get this one for my laptop ... gigety

I think browser virtualization is all that is really necessary ... the browser is the point of entry for 90 % of stuff ...

or do all your browsing inside a VMware OS would be a viable anti-malware solution

I use Ubuntu for all my 'dirty' surfing

re-imaging software is the best way to go; make a clean clone and if you get a root-kit just re-image

a combination of things is ideal !

  • the download site keeps redirecting me to the page to buy it, and i just want the free version

  • u can also download the free version from softpedia(dot)com

  • It's Illegal

  • Seriously, fuck off. I hate people who use cracked versions of the Windows© Operating Systems.

  • lmaooo noob i didnt here tth word in a while

  • Agree, but i do have crack for xp and vista (plus server 2003) but i got the OS's legally but i have crack just in case MS stops supporting the OS and i cant register it any more. I am one who uses OS's long after they have "died". (Windows 95 FTW!) But thoughs who crack OS's just so they don't have to pay for it are disgusting. KEEP IT LEGAL!

  • I have 7 OS disks, most for windows versions, I also have Mac os X and Ubuntu - some I just got for free, but some I cracked.

  • LOL, i have for WIN i have: 95B(OEM), 98se,2000 pro, xp pro 32 bit, vista home premium 64 bit(OEM), NT 3.51 Workstation, NT 4.0 Workstation, sever 2003. And mac: OS 7.5, OS 8.1, OS 9.2 (I have yet to try OSX.)

Now Linux Ubuntu:(I burned these to disk my self, i did not have them ship me the disks.) 7.04, 8.04 and 9.04. As you can see, i am an "OS collector" and will continue to collect.

  • Oh, i also have MS-DOS 6.22 and IBM OS/2 Warp 4. AND I GOT THEM ALL ON DISKS! NO DOWNLOADS! (Except for Ubuntu because its free so ya, i did download Ubuntu but that is legal.)

  • thats great, I also have 9 or 10 of these you listed here. keep up the good work with collecting :)

  • I think it's not rogue that make ur system heavy,it's Returnil that makes it heavy.....

  • vista......... i have lost faith in you

  • I tried it and it uses about 50-60% of my cpu ? Uninstalled and back to normal.

  • Hey Matt, i´ve always watched your reviews, they´re the best ever made...

Returnil is like Shadow user, but with free features and anti-virus included...

    Keep up the good work...

    From Portugal

  • does this programm interfere with other antivirus programs? because i want to have another program running as well

    thanks

  • ur vm is so fast how do you do that

  • He has more than 1 GB of ram

    2.80++GHZ Cpu speed

  • thanks!

  • he puts a lot of ram in it

  • R.I.P Windows XP

  • Windows xp will be supported till 2014 . microsoft announced this not so long ago...and i will be sticking with it .

  • Matt said that if u had System Safe On when you downloaded the malware after restart it will gone, but if u hadn't on System Safe On when you downloaded the malware it will be on your computer probably...

  • Sorry for bad english i'm form Poland

  • nice review, Matt.

  • i have Returlil, Sandboxie and Spyware Terminator with HIPS enabled. i don't think ANYTHING is getting on my PC. ^_^

  • No need of those all, they are only using your CPU and memory. No need of them, only this Returnil or SandBoxie is enough of security.

  • What happens when you do download some type of malware (like zero-day, no signature kind of malware that doesn't get detected as malware) and you move it to the "Z drive"? Would the malware be able to run and ruin your pc??

  • Thats a good question. 0_o

  • then this video isn't really the place to get it

  • The comment below from CallieBeachez83 is a come on to entice ppl all over Youtube to visit her "site" which leads to a Porn site. Don't fall for it guys. Unless you happen to have a Visa card with a rather HIGH limit.

  • LOL WUT?

  • man it let enable virtual system when all my programs are closed

  • greece2008... Fith? Really? lol

  • I use Rollback RX.

  • Another stellar, in-depth review. Thank you!

Based on your video, I can't imagine why anyone would NOT want Returnil. It seems to do the same thing as Windows' own System Restore, except Returnil's implementation is better and easier. I have Norton Internet Security 2009 but I think I'll get this as an additional line of defense.

  • mmm yummy you got Vista, only its in classic mode... i personally think Vista is sexy looking.

  • Whoa lol already another video i remember when you did combofix then didnt do another one for 1 month ;P and this time its only like 2 weeks wow thanks

  • Why Vista? Isn't it not the same for XP?

  • lol nice

  • that rogue virus you had i once got in my computer. Luckily i had malwarebytes to get rid of it =D awesome review

  • if you had a nasty rookrit wouldnt it just save itself to the virtual z drive?

  • u switched to vista?

  • It seems kinda like DeepFreeze(I think costs $), except with free version.

  • my school has deep freezze

  • i did try to install it but every time i have the CPU100% and it make the machine saturated don't know why

  • Eww... Vista.

  • Thanks for the review. I'm trying it out.

  • whoops, spoke to soon..

  • what would you do if you needed to update the os? I'm assuming turning it off? right?

  • Yup, just disable it.

  • VISTA FTW...

  • I see you've switched to Windows Vista®

  • yeah. The new set of reviews will be on Vista and 7.

  • Just: Watch out for keyloggers.

I would personally use Returnil andor Deep Freeze with ThreatFire (Updates off)

  • Yeah, that's the only thing to really watch out for using this.

  • Something you may not know: On Vista, the classic theme doesn't make the system run faster. Aero Basic does

  • You're right, I didn't know that, thanks.

  • i love that " i like getting payed" like the humor

  • it's true :P

  • how much space can i make to the z drive?

  • as much as you want.

  • can i make 500 gb?

  • this time u tested it in vista instead of xp...

  • Damn I got to use this program now 80. Thanks Matt.

  • Does this work as an anti virus ? do i need an anti virus with it too ?

  • It has a builtin antivirus, but I'd through on something like spyware doctor and/or threatfire.

  • Does it work on windows xp pro ? and how would it be on an old computer like 640 mb ram 40 gb hdd .1500 mhz ?

  • his VM isnt old he just set the visual effects to

the old kind i guess cause he likes it better or

without it his vista would be slower ;P

  • or maybe, its because its probably vista basic which is so ugly

  • oh, nevermind just saw the vista home premiun

  • Awesome review. :D I totally forgot about this program haha.

  • great video i downloaded it, i've been looking for a vm computer for a long time :)

  • I was actually the 5th few... but i couldnt watch cause it was really blury.

  • Great Review

  • 5th@!!!!

    good video

    keep it up.

  • Fith Post

  • Amazing.

I have so much respect for you.

  • good revierw matt!

  • yeah he did, a while ago
