Zuko's not the protagonist of the show, but he sure might as well be. He, not Aang, gets all the deep exploration inside him and the intense changes. He's by far the most dynamic character of the show. I mean, heck, there's no episode called Aang Alone.

When it said "I will be ready to die" as Zuko took the lightning for Katara I was like O.O and literally speechless and breathless.

@hollowichigo642 If you're referring to the footage of Zuko dueling Azula, that would be B3: The Southern Raiders. If you're referring to the dramatic shot of Zuko turning around, that's B3: The Firebending Masters.
I love the transitions between past and present. Like the Zuko learning lightening into him using it...I squeed out loud because of the goosebumps it gave me. Excellent. :)

well its a very strik rule to us anime lovers if its from over seas its anime if its from the U.S. its a cartoon so avatar is one of the best cartoons to come out to = most anime because 90% of U.S. cartoons are nothing like anime and the story in U.S. cartoons wait they dont have one or it suck so bad you cant call it a story only very few U.S. cartoons can =up to anime and even fewer yet get put on U.S. TV
No its okay. I will admit that while I have been a huge fan of anime from when I was little I didn't get into Avatar right away. In fact i hated it until half way through, so i have always had mixed feelings about it.
@thomasmiller1 You are aware that most of this show was drawn in Korea, right? :') But I guess since you are probably american you are so superproud that at least for once some guys used their heads and settled on an animation style that looks quite good and that is, oh my a 'seinen' anime style.
@PryingDragon I'll admit, it is as good as some anime I've seen, but technically it is not one. All anime is from japan. A cartoon can be in anime style, but if it isn't from japan, it is not an anime
@Evnyofdeath I think the word anime can be used in more than one way. It can be general as you are using it for something that has it origins from Japan, and then there is the way it is used to describe an art style. For instance, if I draw a picture of a character in an anime style does that mean its an anime character or a cartoon character?
@Evnyofdeath haha well don't get me wrong, I completely understand where you are coming from, and in some cases I too feel like Avatar held more characteristics of a cartoon than an anime, but the style and the slowly more serious progression of the plot made me want to call it an anime
