In Pop'n Music, you use the twelve buttons of PS1/2 controller to perform a song, which have 9 notes. You need to push the button (some of them have more than one you may push, but you only must push one per note) of the note at the time the note passes at the red line. Depending on how well you do so, you'll get a Bad (which means you totally missed the note), a Good (which means you got it, but the tempo is not that good), a Great (which means it is perfect/almost perfect),
a Cool (which means you got the note in a perfect tempo) and Fever/Fever Cool (which are Great and Cool with special requirements). The maximum points you could get per song is 100,000, so the nearest you get to it, the best you played the song. Each one of the 5 "tempo ranks" have its own very cute animation for each character, as well they have animations for Lose, Win, Fever Win and Dance. Pop'n Music is currently at its 15th game on console, and 17th on arcade.
Yes. You can buy the arcade games (which are REALLY expensive) or the PS/PS2 games, which are quite cheap, actually (and require less space, of course).
There are 14+4 games for PS/PS2 atm, and a Wii version and a PS2 US version as well, but they lack the charm of the original games :P
Mokai only shows songs on normal/the easiest difficulty, as to not scare newcomers away...there's plenty of tatsujin vids with songs on hyper/EX difficulties, or you could just buy it and see for yourself! :P
MOON is from pop'n music 13. This awesome song (like many others from the non-DDR BEMANI games) was crossover'd into the DDR franchise. Konami of America is just bad at giving credit to the games where the songs ACTUALLY came from. <_<
wtf like every fjking video is in a new format that lags!!!!!

Yeah this is one of my favorites. I don't really play the game, but the music is nice. My friend however, made his own controller for Popn XD.
Im trying to also look for that one with the rat on the hilltop singing the flute.

You're represented by the character on the left. The right character is the character representing the song, aka an "opponent". :)

Yay my favorite DDR Supernova song has been put into Pop'n!

I thought it was the other way; Moon was lifted from Pop'n and put into DDR. I may be wrong though :x
