  • My great uncle died aboard this ship. His name was Ron Schofield and I am honoured to have his medals that he was awarded posthumously. I also have letters he sent home his mother. He died aged 22.

  • Does anyone have any details of my wife's great uncle who went down with the Royal Oak? His name was Walter Slawson, from Llanidloes, Montgomryshire, Wales

  • Thank you so much for the posting. I thought it was just us yanks who were shamefully remiss in not teaching our youth about the heroes of its country. Shame on both out countries. Also I'm writing a novel about a WWII British Naval Officer and the story of the sinking of HMS Royal Oak plays a prominent roll in the story.

May those boys whose lives were lost in this tragedy be granted eternal rest.

Thank you again for the posting
