i have to say in a growing economy when a business demand is rising by all means they should have record profits. Profits are not a bad thing. In fact a large percentage of Americans are invested in energy companies through mutual funds and retirement plans. Also these companies pay record taxes when they make record profits. Close to 50% of their gross revenue over a year. And yes the American economy has grown over every year of President Bush. Im sure gdp growth by over 3% annually.
